what did you use to remove the paint work?

ah, sorry, i did post a thread on that but it's buried. i very lightly sanded it off using sandpaper--light touch so you don't spoil the leather--and then cleaned it with saddle soap.

Has anyone tried a light wipe with Lacquer Thinner to remove the paint? I posted this in the other thread but no replies so far.

i didn't, but i was more afraid of that having a negative effect on the leather than light sanding. the acrylic paint on the lanyard isn't sealed/coated with anything (or if it is, whatever it's coated with isn't much) so it comes off quite easily.
