I thought too much nicotine causes vivid and sometimes bad dreams?
I've cut down from 18 mg to 12 and now to 6mg and it's this last reduction that suddenly seems to be causing some changes.
I feel irritable but I'm not experiencing strong cravings, which seems weird.
I'm waking up a lot through the night and having a lot of weird and sometimes scary dreams.
Last night someone was trying to light me on fire with a cigarette lighter.

Anyone else have these effects when reducing their nicotine levels?

The dreams I can handle but it's annoying waking up at 3 am feeling wide awake!

Your dropping too fast, slow down, this isn't a race. I've taken two years to drop from 24mg to 12mg, haven't had any problems at all. After all we didn't get to where we were at smoking in just a couple of months, it's going to take quite a while before our brain can rewire itself to do without nicotine.

Hi, I'm not really doing it out of choice. My tongue is irritated by the nicotine ( my conclusion) I'm finding at 6mg I seem to be doing a lot better , though it may also be the drying effects of vaping too which is adding to it. And before you or anyone tells me.....yes, I am drinking LOADS of water, lol!
I guess bad dreams are better than not being able to speak properly.

How long have you been experiencing nightmares while cutting down on nicotine?

Bad dreams are a known side-effect of nicotine replacement therapies (whether you're using the patch, gum, e-cigs...).

If you do a quick Google search you'll find plenty of people suffering from the same issues.

However, not everyone suffers from this issue and bad dreams can be caused by many factors.

Consider whether or not there may be other factors causing your dreams such as anxiety which may be heightened due to apprehension about being able to control your nicotine addiction, etc.

Thanks Bardic. Been down that route already. :) I seem to have an intolerance to VG and find I can only use about a 30% mix of it otherwise I start getting face flushing and rashes.

As far as the bad dreams go it's only been since I cut down from 12 mg to 6 and all of a sudden I'm dreaming up a storm and waking up as a result of many of them being so disturbing.
I find it odd too because I thought it was too MUCH nicotine that can do this.
Maybe it is stress? The tongue thing has been stressing me out.

OP...Your tongue may be irritated due to xerostomia(dry mouth). Try something like biotene which is an over the counter treatment for dry mouth. There are several causes of xerostomia, perscription medications, radiation treatments to the head/neck and just getting older can reduce saliva flow.
