I have old and new batteries. Is there a reason when I hit the switch (ggss) it only fires for 2 seconds.

Should I only use new batts and not combine them?

Probably not your Batts, but check them for a good charge, also check your connection, battery, Atty, end caps tight, sounds like you have a bad connection or have a short somewhere.

Michelle can we get an update on you firing issue with the GGSS?

MWA was right, it was the hardware not the batteries. I disconnected and reconnected on another device (GGS) and it was fine. I guess the adapter I ordered wasn't sitting right on my GGSS. I put the GGSS back together and made sure the adapter was tight and it worked.
