I just had to run over to CVS for something for my boy's flu...and upon entering I had my trusty istick in my pocket and walked through the doors/sensors "you have triggered CVS' inventory tracking system alert" alarm goes off...a "waive" to my favorite clerk and "oh it's probably my vape" got a "I work retail and don't give a .er you know nod" :) and I set it off exiting the store too...

I noticed no shelving behind the counters..they'd removed the ciggies and put patches/gum there last month or so..now it's posters about CVS' wanting to be tobacco free.

interesting.:vapor:

Quite a few years ago my wife and I walked "into" a supermarket (don't remember the name and it's no longer there). Something in her purse caused the alarm sensor to go off. We were approached immediately and told that they would have to check us and her purse. Seriously? I told the woman, "You mean we are suspected of shoplifting "into" the store? I told her she was not going to search either of us and we were going to walk out. I said "if you intend to call the Sheriff's Office let me know and I will wait outside, otherwise we're leaving and I will never darken your doors again. We left and never went back.

This could have been handled differently. Like saying "excuse me but have you maybe brought something in from another store that might have set our alarm off, or maybe an implanted medical device?
In my city, I can't go into the Harley Davidson dealer without setting off the door alarm. I have a stent from a blocked artery that sets it off.

Kfolse they were pretty cool about it.."nod & Ok"

I mean if I were wearing a Camel shirt hoodie and had a back pack with a cell phone attached to it..*lol* I guess they could worry..my son said I have "diplomatic immunity as I'm part of the little old lady brigade":p

I"m sure that's all kinds of NOT fun...with all those "shady" Harley types running around
(we ride too..just about like everyone else..we work, have homes *lol* etc)

I have a pair of jeans that sets those things off every time. They originally had some kind of magnetic label in them that was supposed to set off the sensor if someone shoplifted them, which I guess was not properly deactivated when I bought them. It was a stiff cloth tag with some kind of metal inside it that was sewn into the seam near the pocket. It had a perforation that you were supposed to be able to use to cut it off once you bought them, but apparently some of the metal stuff got sewn into the actual seam, so even with the tag gone they still set off alarms…and I can't remove it without cutting the seam and re-sewing it. I've been lucky that I've never been hassled about it, just a smile and a nod like you.

Honestly, I figure most retail employees are so poorly paid and lacking in GAD that they might not stop you if you ran out with a whole box of something.

I was inside 7-11 a few weeks ago getting a redbull and had my mod in my pocket. The lady being the counter looked at me super weird and then she said "looks like ...... kicked in".
I said what the f to her, she laughed and her reply was that I should be more discreet. I grabbed my beverage and left the store like what the f just happened. Then I got in my truck and pulled out my mid. Suddenly I put 1 and 1 together. The mod actuated my manhood. Every time I go in there and she's working, she flirts with me. :)

Whenever I have to go into a CVS these days - which is as seldom as possible - I still vape in the store, just because I can. :pervy:

Love it!

I dislike CVS with a passion. Wrote about it here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...macies-selling-cigarettes-2.html#post14429935

Someone posted a day or two ago that they were told to stop vaping their car at the drive-through window. And the CVS person was not polite about it at all.

If a store doesn't want to sell something, that's their business but stuffing it down everybody's throat is a bit much. I avoid them like the plague out of principal (except for pointy q-tips sometimes) but have nothing against their employees.

Oh, no. I knew ANTS, the Government, BT, BP and the others were secretly putting tracking devices and magnetic strips in vape gear. Now this is confirmation...

How smug are you going to be when you find out the tracking material is actually in your juice? :D

ETA Sorry Steve, couldn't resist.

That's my stand precisely. Plenty of other pharmacies; I prefer Walgreen's anyway -- after buying my cigarettes there for years, they know us. :D For a while after I quit, everytime my husband walked in, when he got up to the register, there'd be 2 pks of Slims laying there, and he laughed and told them I switched to e-cigs. I'm sure that clerk must have done this:  :D

In my happy place
Where I work we have to wear work boots, us engineers usually change our shoes at our desks and keep our street shoes under the desk. One day I got a tag that was not disarmed from Wallmart and we took it apart and I pulled the insole out of one of the other engineers shoe and put the active tag into his shoe and glued the insole back in. The poor guy complained for almost a year that every time he went into or out of Wallmart he would get hassled by security because he would trip the alert.

Oh please let anyone at CVS tell me what I can and can't do while sitting in the drive through. It would not be pretty.

I know, right? You also can't smoke in your car at the local hospital. Someone's kid maybe inside in critical condition but you have to run a block to fortify yourself with nicotine while the child is in surgery. Tell me how compassionate they are.

No one sees what I do In my car...

Thank the stars. :D

Spent a lot of time in that parking lot lately, haven't been busted yet. Kinda wish I would since it says nothing about vaping but seems very cruel to smokers who may be going through an extremely rough patch in their lives.

Yes, exactly. I've seen family members go through some serious BS at hospitals when waiting on bad news or good news, just to smoke, and it's the opposite of compassionate. Once, my ex husband and I were at the hospital waiting on his mother to get out of 9 hours worth of spinal surgery…it was pouring down rain outside and probably 35 degrees, so we hid in the car and smoked and actually got hassled by the rent-a-cop for doing so, in our private vehicle with the windows rolled up and nobody else anywhere around us. He knocked on the window, I rolled it down, he said "This is a non-smoking campus" and I said "We're not smoking on your campus, we're smoking in OUR car, while we wait to find out if my husband's mother is ever going to walk again. You have a nice day, now" and rolled the window up on him. He did absolutely nothing. Not my finest hour…but rabid anti-smoking has always made me really mad. In fact, if it wasn't for so much "smokers are evil and everyone should quit!" propaganda, I'd probably have quit a long time ago. Every time I would make up my mind about being ready, though, my annoying in-law or my cousin the nurse would forward me some sanctimonious e-mail about the evils of smoking or give me a lecture at a family function, and I would refuse to quit just to spite them. Stupid, but true. I haven't even told extended family that I've quit, because I don't want to hear them congratulating themselves about it.

I always smoked in my vehicle, when my mom was going in and out of hospitals with some frequency. Nobody ever hassled me, but I was fairly discreet -- at the Northside in Forsyth co. hospital, I see people all the time hanging out on the grassy medians between parking lanes, smoking like rabid dragons, and nobody hassles them that I've seen, but I didn't do that; I stayed in my vehicle with the window rolled up. Usually when she's been at St Joseph's, we're visiting on the weekend, and I don't think they have as many smoke nannies working then; nobody ever gave me any lip about smoking in my vehicle.

If they gave me any grief now, I'd point out that I'm NOT smoking, I'm vaping, which means there is NO TOBACCO and NO SMOKE, so I am not breaking any of their stupid "tobacco-free campus" rules. Of course now, I just go into her private-room bathroom, and stealth-vape -- much easier than hiking 3 miles back to the car! And it makes the whole room smell less like a hospital and more like a bakery -- a massive improvement! :D
