The Red Bull clone I ordered from Vapor Shots is called Red Steer lol. I'm not exactly a big Red Bull fan, but I wanted to recreate a flavor combo I got at a B&M called Red Mountain, which is Red Bull / Mountain Dew. It sounds odd, but it actually goes well together. Too bad the Mountain Dew clone from Vapor Shots didn't live up to the name. Mixed w/ the Red Steer @ 24mg nic it's good stuff tho.

Red Cow aka Energy from TFA along with half a dozen others were renamed. Pretty obvious why the flavor name had to change as with the Hawaiian Punch, Mtn Dew, and Grape Jolly. The flavor is pretty neutral it's not Bull nor Monster taste imho but it makes a great mixer.

I know a small juice vendor who dared use jolly in the name of his grape juice and also got served. Anyone who can't think of something better then Red Cow to describe Energy Drink flavoring should hire me to name their stuff.

Or you could use the deconstruction and recipe I posted later in the thread. It's very repeatable and works every time.

DaMutha has an unusual mixing style that works for him, but I'd never be able to mix his way.

This?

"I ended with 35% total flavor with 55% being Blueberry and 45% of it being the Red Bull type flavor."

Can you explain a little better? I plan on using premixed 50/50 nonflavored with 12mg nicotine. I would like to make 30ml of flavored. How may ml of each flavor would I need?

Here you go SoonerChris

35% total flavor of 30ml would be .35 * 30= 10.5ml of total flavor
.55 * 10.5ml = 5.78ml of Blueberry
.45 * 10.5 = 4.73ml Red Bull Type
19.5 ml of 12mg/ml Nic will give you a 30ml juice of 7.8mg/ml
19.5 * 12 = 234
234/30= 7.8mg/ml

Cheers,
Steve

Edit for PG/VG ratio
19.5ml at 50/50 will give you 9.75 ml each of PG and VG
The flavoring is in PG (I'm assuming) so 9.75 + 10.5 = 24.75ml of PG
24.75/30=82.5%PG 17.5%VG

Flavoring is coming from TFA and their website says, "Ingredients:Artificial Flavor, Propylene Glycol, Water"

So, yes, you are correct.

I freakin love sweet tarts, but I had a question. TFA also sells a sweet tart flavoring, would that pretty much be the same thing, or does the blueberry & red bull mix taste better?

TPA/TFA's Sweet Tart tastes like smarties. DaMutha's recipe works amazingly well and other fruits besides blueberry can be used.

Sounds good, thanks Hoosier. I got my order from TFA today, but my order for measuring tools did not come yet. So I only have the flavoring, empty bottles, and the free plastic pipette that came in the TFA order. I want to mix some right now. Would you have like an estimate drop method for making a small batch?

You can watch DaMutha's video. He made his sweet tart without any measuring equipment...just poured it in.

I'm just the silly person who did pauses and laid a scale on the screen to get an idea of ratios. Then took the measurements and converted them to volumes, made a batch, and posted %'s based on all that.

I spent more time deconstructing his recipe than he took to mix a big batch.

So, you could use a ruler against the bottle if you can't wait. The thing is pretty forgiving.

Hoosier, since I am very new to DIY, I have been reading a lot of info. something that I found very surprising is that too high of a % can result in no flavor. Since this BB+Redbull mix is a high %, would I lose all the flavor after a week of steeping? It taste so good I want to make a bigger 30ml bottle, but I wouldn't want to do that if the flavor will be lost.

Thanks again

edit: I also like smarties candy, have you tried the sweet tart TFA flavoring? how close is it to smarties candy?

Right, overflavoring can lead to no flavor. That's one of the reasons I wrote my flavoring level blog. It's a "can" and not a "will" because it's not absolute. Tobaccos flavoring, as an example, doesn't tend to do this. Many tobacco flavorings actually change taste to something COMPLETELY different with different levels. (So different that you think you mislabeled your bottle or something.) The tobacco I'm vaping now works at this taste from 3.2 to 3.6% and changes to something else below and above that zone. The others tastes from this flavoring aren't bad, but I like that 3.2-3.6% zone because there is a whole bunch of subtle notes that organize together to form the perfect taste for me.

DaMutha's Sweet Tart recipe is like that. The overshoot in flavoring results in a different taste than if you were to use it at a lover level. I've never found it to steep out.

TPA/TFA's sweet tart makes a good smarties at about 10%. I've been playing with it to give the same effect as the powder that is usually on them, and while I've gotten close, it's not perfect yet. If you like Smarties then it's a great choice and easy to hit a tasty vape without any hoops or tweaks. I still like it even without the powder effect and sometimes mix a bottle of just 10% sweet tart and go.

HOOSIER!!!!! you are the first person that I've talked to that mentioned the "powder" taste. That is exactly what I am looking for with a smarties flavor. May I ask what you have tried to get that "powder" taste? I have some EM that I have never used, but I'm not sure if that will give me the "powder" taste that I am looking for. someone on reddit told me that they used EM to get that.

have you by any chance tried flavors from one on one? I ordered their sweet tarts flavor, and it taste more like a sweet tart, and less like smarties which is what I was looking for. since you mentioned that TFA's sweet tart taste more like a smartie, I'm going to give it a try.

Thank you again. I really appreciate the helpful advice.

Nope, EM didn't work for the powder taste. Going high on the flavoring helps some.

Pecan didn't work either...

Hoosier, I wanted to thank you again for all your help and I really enjoyed reading your blogs as well. I am going to order the sweet tarts flavoring from TFA. Thank you for everything, you've been a great help.
