I have an alpaca ranch and today in the rain, the animals got out again. Very seldom do they challenge the fence line but they're crafty in finding a loose wire or would get out between two wires. Thinking of electric fence next. The reason I mention the alpaca is I've been smoking for 34 years and it's damn hard to chase them back in because I'm having difficulty breathing. I pretty got everything I need to start vaping (just brought a zatty pro today) and while I'm being realistic, can't help but be ever so hopeful that I will be able to quit analogs. Just the thought of being able to breathe again. I can't remember the last time I was able to run without any trouble breathing and coughing. Today was the first time I didn't mind getting those damn animals back in. Yes even in the rain because I have faith that I can beat the stinking analogs once and for all. So thanks to you all for your kind words and advice. You gave me hope.

Hi and welcome! I discovered that vapor plumes get huge when the weather is cold outside - scared the cr@p out my horse - that might work for alpaca herding. I lived with llamas for awhile and I think it would have worked with them.

While vaping on the wash rack, Duchess kept trying to frisk Me for the apple She thought I had.

I have found that I can run again without almost dying. It is not as hard as you think it is. Vaping is a very good replacement for smoking. You will return to your normal self quicker than you think. I wish you luck.

BTW, my mother would love you. She has wanted to raise alpaca for a long time. She just loves them. But living in the city, it is kinda hard to hide an alpaca or two from the neighbors. :)

Bullette the Cowdog here.
Never herded alpacas before, but sure would like to give it a try.

Woof! (Wags tail)

Well, our border collie did some herding but it wasn't alpaca. Her very short lived career of herding chickens and one very cranky old rooster was her only experience. I've never seen so many fearsome chickens.

Hang in there, Irishred! I've "quit" dozens of times over the past 35 years, but like you, I am almost ecstatically hopeful that this one is really going to stick. I'm 7 days smoke-free and already feeling like I'm breathing and tasting things better -- even if it's all in my head, I'll take it!
