@jwbnyc yeah it probably would loosen up some, my other concern with it is that I wasn't sure that if something happened, that heavier, longer spring wouldn't allow the button top battery to drop away from the positive contact to break the connection. I know that with the built in protection circuitry, that probably a battery shorting and venting might not happen, but just seems an added safety feature.

I really don't think a collapsing battery spring is a feature built in to any ProVari...

Mechs perhaps, Just not a Provi.

The bigger issue that I would worry about with the stronger spring is...

Control Board Push. Not having seen the Classic Model. I wonder whether the board is in a mounting cartridge, like the P3?

Taking out the battery and looking down the barrel of my P3, and Classic, they look the same.

Maybe I could work the spring some with my fingers to give it some action to help loosen it up a little?

I got the spring loosened up a bit by working it between my fingers, and it's quite a bit better now. So I'm happy with that.
