A couple of years ago, our daughter (an only child) had heard from her firends that Santa wasn't real, and that their parents were the ones putting out the presents at night. She still believed in Santa, but had asked about it a couple of times over the year.
She came to me and said "Mom, is Santa real, or are you and dad the ones who put out the 'Santa presents'?"
I looked at her and said "Do you REALLY think I would get up at 2 in the morning just to put presents under a tree???"
She looked at me a few seconds and said "You're right ..... there's gotta be a Santa." and walked away.

(we did tell her last year at age 10, and she kept saying "I knew it!") :)

a few years ago, my daughter spent Christmas Eve at my house...she's normally with her mother...

about 1 AM she heard a noise, and woke me up...we went out to the hallway and sure enough, she saw Santa there putting presents out...with my wife in bed, and myself standing next to her :)

we got a picture of him...and she still believes :) She's 12....this is the last year though :(

I have had more than my share of great Christmases, one that always stands out is the year Bob Hope came to visit the troops in 1967. I saw more smiling faces that day than I had seen in a long time. (And of course Racqual Welsh did not hurt the eyes either.)
I was lucky enough to get his book autographed by him and have since passed that on to my son.

I was raised Jewish and though we got Chanukah money I really wanted a Christmas with gifts too. At that time my father was a part time Jazz musician, he had a group that played at various function. Through a friend of his, he got a gig playing for the Company Christmas party. Well Santa came out and they called out the names of the employee's kids to come up and receive a wrapped gift from Santa. Of course my thoughts leaned into wishing my Dad worked for that company. Then suddenly I heard my name being called and for the first time in my life I was able to go up to Santa and receive a gift.

No I didn't convert, but since then Christmas has meant the season for giving to me.

When I was 7 I had seen a Jungle Hunter set in the Dept. Store! I wanted it bad, but I knew we didn't have the money for it. My Dad worked hard to provide for us but there wasn't alot of money in 1962. On Christmas morning me and my sister hit the tree and started tearing open our gifts! Oh! there was the Jungle Hunter set I wanted! I was so happy. My sister was madder than thunder! She had wanted an Annie Oakley set and so far all she was opening was Clothes and dolls and some of my Dad's homemade doll furniture for her. She loved it all but you could tell she was disappointed! After a little bit my mother said Hey sis, here is one you forgot! You guessed it! It was the Annie Oakley set she wanted! She was so happy! My dad always tried to make sure we got something special for Christmas. We lost him Jan 11 2009. But he is still with us on Christmas! Merry Christmas Dad!

It seems as though I have more memories of when I was a kid then with my own kids. I guess that is what happens when you become older than dirt. I remember that we would always nearly end up having Xmas Xmas eve instead of Xmas morn as my Dad couldn't wait.

I remember the time we lived in a two story home with my bedroom being upstairs. I climbed part way down the stairs and watched Santa put the presents under the tree.

I remember the time when my son must have been around 6 and daughter 2 we were at my parents. My father slipped out the back door then there was a rap at the front door. When the kids went to the door there was a red flyer wooden stake wagon. Of course, Dad was back in the living room by now. The looks on my kids faces was priceless.

My favorite memory is of the year when I was a freshman in high school and we got to go to Wyoming for Christmas and see all the grandparents & aunts & uncles and SNOW! (I grew up in Texas). We usually only went to WY during the summer, so it was a special treat to go for Christmas and to see snow for Christmas as well.
