I picked up my variety sample tin today. Gave all the juices a nice sniff, and some (well, most) smell very good! (especially Malibu!)

My question is, how do I interpret the "Best by..." days on the bottles? Off hand I assume they are dated "best by..." a year after they were mixed, but I want to be sure so this way I know how long I should steep them based on when they were mixed.

Here are "best by..." the dates on my bottles:

03/01/2013
02/28/2013
02/27/2013
02/22/2013
02/19/2013
02/12/2013

Looking at those dates, it doesn't seem like a year is accurate due to the dated bottles that precede today's date by over a year. So how much time do I remove to figure out when they were 'born'?

Thanks for any help!

Well I decided to try the Malibu first (which had the oldest date, so I figure steeping would be nill at this point).

Gotta say I am surprised at how clean this flavor tastes. I am not a fan of pina colada or other coconut/pineapple type flavors/drinks, but this one just seem so pure that I can help but vape it. At first when I smelt it, it was my favorite smelling one on the batch, then I kept smelling it and it kind of reminded me of a car air-freshener :?:.

I decided to take the plunge anyway and loaded up a fresh Boge carto. Nicely sweet on the tongue on inhale, and clean, slightly fruity and a little sweet on exhale. Definitely has that sweet coconut/pineapple undertone to it, but since its so clean tasting it doesn't seem to bother me as much as I was expecting as it tastes more natural than other eliquids out there. Also has a bit of a 'mojito' influence to it as well (probably because of the menthol). Decent vapor production as well. Each time I puff, it grows on me a little more. Only time will tell if I can tolerate it as a ADV or not.

I'm sure in no time my apartment will start to smell like a woman's bathroom in a fine restaurant if I constantly puff on this the rest of the night, lol. (not that I have ever voluntarily been in one that is )

Oh and I'd like to add that this flavor doesn't have any offensive tastes to my pallet like 95% of all other e-liquids I have tried thus far. Most liquid out there has a taste, or can be harsh, that I just don't like very much, but I vape them anyway and just tolerate in hopes I can find a better flavor. Malibu just tastes good with nothing offensive (yet).

Malibu is great, actually all of Halo juices are just amazing. I have ordered juices from 6 or 7 other well recommended popular companies from this forum and nothing comes close to the quality or depth of flavor that Halo brings into all their juices. I have come to my own conclusion that Halo has the best juice on the market. I'm sure that others will disagree but other juices to me just are so bland and one dimensional or taste like cheap chemicals.

Not sure about the best by dates though, I have some month old juice (Tribecca haha) that I didnt like at first but let them sit around and im not sure if my taste buds have changed or the juices have changed flavors but I like them all now, except Belle Vellente too strong of a cigar tobacco flavor for me. I just ordered the last of the list that I have not tried and cant wait for them to get here. They do send that little card with every order that says to wait 24 - 48 hours for the juice to get to room temp, but I usually just dive in after the mailman drops it off :vapor:

Im not really digging the Halo juices. The only one that doesn't taste like it has 1000 chemicals in it is HX3. Midnight apple had me smiling at first because it tasted so different but after vaping it for a while it made sick. The Tiki was sort of similar in a way that it had a ton of flavor but I just think about real Tiki torch fluid while vaping it and it feels like I'm being poisoned. Almost like vaping Fabreze. They all pretty much taste synthetic. Maybe they need to steep for a while. I got the sample pack and have tried all of them. This is the only e-liquid I've ever tried where you can actually smell the vapor. Almost like walking into a room after blowing out a scented candle. They dont disclose how much PG is in their juice because for some stupid reason they consider it a trade secret. Seems silly since a lot of people know how much PG they can tolerate. Its a gamble ordering from them in that regard as all sales are final. Johnson Creek at least will take the bottle back and send you a new one or refund your money. Given the cloudy head feeling this juice gives me I'd say its mostly PG. People tend to like the first juice they try and I've read a lot of posts and most of the people that love Halo are the ones who've tried them first. I think people should try AVE juices like Boba's Bounty.

everyones taste is different, what tastes like poo to me might taste like heaven to you. every time you order a liquid you haven't tried you take a gamble. most companies do not take back liquids just because you don't like it. most will not take them back no matter what. frankly, I don't want to wonder if my bottle of liquid is one that has been returned! :?:

Where juice is involved, it is definitely different strokes for different folks. Halo WAS the first flavor I tried many moons ago. It is still my favorite, but it is not because I stuck with my first. After trying over a hundred flavors, Halo is what me feel like I do not need a backup. I will always give some flavors a try, but I don't have to; I am happy with my all day vape.

On a separate note, while Halo may not be the juice for you, I think it is rude to come on a vendor's forum, and bash its product. If you don't like it just move on to what makes you happy. Most of the juices I have tried, I have not liked. But it is very much a part of the juice finding process. It is not the vendor's fault; it is just my individual taste.

Best wishes.

Its silly to think that a reputable company would just take the juice back and resell it. Good customer service means that often times the company would rather take a small loss than to lose a customer. That my friend is the difference between a good company and a great company. Tastes are surely subjective and I don't think that vendors should take all juice back but they shouldn't have a smug policy that pretty much reads "our juice is great and we've never made a bad batch". Since they dont take returns, how would they know if they had a bad batch. Thats like saying "We've never had to send a customer a replacement bottle!" and having an all sales are final policy. Mistakes happen. How can anyone say for sure that you'd never get a bad batch? Happens in the food industry all the time and they have a ton more quality control.

I found the total opposite of what you have found, to me most other companies juice taste like chemicals with horrible after taste. Boba's is just ok to me its too sweet to vape longer than 10 minutes though. Not a fan of VG juices, they always seem to have something missing for me. Johnson creek was horrible to me, I threw out all the flavors I tried from them and wasted about 10 carto's also.

Halo has been the only company I actually go back too and oder more juice. I still have been using the menthol ice as my daily go to and I throw in capt jack, midnight apple, tribeca, prime 15 and hx3 in the rotation everyday for something different. Tried raf-a-licious and gorilla juice and they both are the same as bobas, too sweet and that weird vg taste. I can't seem to find any other company with juice that is vapable for me on a daily basis besides halo. I have tried 34 other companies and wasted hundreds of dollars trying to find good juices. I have a huge bag, not sure why I'am keeping them they all are horrible, of juices I tried in the bottom of my closet from chinese juice to mostly american juice just about all the popular vendors that are recommended here, so Halo is not the only juice i have tried.

It was the first vendor I purchased e cig equipment from 2 months ago and got me to quit smoking. My mother also got a g6 after seeing that I quit with it and she still uses hers today. She does not like any of their juices, she likes vaporbomb cinnabomb which I can't stand lol but she started using Tiki juice. I use a provari with tanks now and couldnt be happier.

I do not go onto the vendors forums and say their juices are crap though when I do not like them, most of my posts would be like that from all the juices I have tried and hated lol I just do not buy from them again because I don't care that much to set out on a rage fest. I look at purchasing juices as a roll of the dice type thing now because how are you going to know if you like it if you don't try it. Its like going into a craft beer section, trying all the beers and returning them if you don't like it them, its not going to happen and its not the companies fault. I love trying craft beers and went through this at the liquior store trying some expensive beers that ended up going down the drain. I don't think the companies are bad, the beers were not my taste so I took it as a loss. Taste is very subjective and everyone is going to like something different and your not always going to please everyone.

okey dokey then.... I'll just say it's always a good idea to read a vendors policies and I'll take my silly self on down the road :vapor:
