To steep or not to steep?

Im thinking about trying torque as my tobacco flavor next. Can you compare it to turkish?

The Turkish (to me) is much spicier on the exhale. Torque has a good tobacco flavor with a hint of earthiness and a subtle sweetness to it. I go back and forth between Torque and Tribeca all day, with Malibu thrown in when I want something different.

Steeping is to basically just evaporate the alcohol out of the juice, correct? Or, is it to let the flavors 'marry' in newly mixed juice? I haven't felt the need to steep any of Halo's juices, but some super sweet juices from others have gotten more mellow after a couple days.
Steeping can be both, to evaporate alcohol and to "marry" flavors. I have not noticed a difference in steeped Halo's flavors. In general, I think steeping is overrated.

I have to disagree. While some ejuices are already steeped enough, Halo is an example, there are premium ejuice makers who literally mix the ejuice as the order is placed, and there can be an incredible difference by steeping even as much as 2 weeks.

Some ejuice vendors that I order form are very specific in their advice to steep first, and based on my experiences with their products I whole-heartedly agree.

Certainly its hit and miss, and not all ejuice needs or benefits from extra steeping, but if you order from enough ejuice vendors, you will run into those that do.

Yeah, there is a vendor who I have been testing lately, whose juices really come alive after sitting a week, or so. The anticipation kills me, though. They only take orders for a couple hours on Tuesdays, then take a full 2 weeks to ship, then a couple days once shipped. It's not easy filling a tank, taking a couple puffs, then ignoring the tank/s for a week. It would be nice if Halo expanded their sweet line...

Yep, and I never said that I LIKE waiting for an ejuice to steep, patience is not my strong suit! I too would love to see Halo come out with some sweet vapes/desert style vapes! For whatever reason though, the ejuices that seem to need the most steeping are the tobacco blends!

No question that some Halo juices need a little time to steep/cure BUT another critical factor is that your taste buds are wacked and I do mean wacked for newbies like me and many others. Tribecca used to be so yummy but since my buds are evolving it's no longer my first choice. Torque and Long Horn rule. So my takeaway from all of this is steep all you want or rebel and don't steep, light a fire under that 30 ML bottle but the taste is likely to change over a period of time because your buds are evolving.

Some of Halo's flavors are perfect right out of the mail, and some really do require some shelf attention before they're ready for prime time. Give you two examples of opposite ends of that spectrum:

Midnight Apple is awesomepants right out of the mail. Literally. Open up your mailbox, open the package, break the seal on the bottle and drip Midnight Apple into your tank, carto or clearo standing right there with the mailbox still open. Delicious.

Bella Valente, on the other hand, you can put away for 3 weeks or a month, and then it's ready.

On the more moderate middle ground, Tribeca is perfect after a day or two. Prime 15, on the other hand, is perfectly vapable after a day or two, but will continue to mature to get better and better over the course of a week or two.

Here's how you can tell, by the way: You tell by the "nose" -- the smell of the juice.

Midnight Apple? Apple, plain and simple. Always gonna smell like green apple, from the first day to the last.

Tiki Juice? First day you open it, here's what it smells like: Root beer. (Some people say cola.) When it's ready, though, you won't smell root beer, you'll smell spices with a little bit of mint.

Prime 15? First day: Peanut butter cookie. When it's ready, it'll smell like dry tobacco leaves and just a little bit dusty/earthy.

Bella Valente? That one's gonna smell like your mom's perfume on the first day. When it's ready, though, you'll get vanilla and cuban cigar.

These are just my impressions, however. It really depends on your tastes and on which juice you're dealing with.

I just got my Halo tobacco sampler today. My first ever vape was Prime 15 today, 30 mins after the package came in! You are right on with Prime 15's first day of peanut butter cookie nose! In the vape, I tasted minimal tobacco flavors, very faintly. Distinct sweetness in the exhale especially with voltage > 3.8. Interesting experience. I hope more flavors will develop soon :)

You know what? I'll tell you from my own experience -- and as always others' may vary -- but it doesn't really seem to make too hugely much of a difference just how you steep juice.

The key is to let it just sit. If there's a difference between letting it sit in sunlight and letting it sit in the dark, I haven't noticed it. If there's a difference between letting it sit with the cap on or with the cap off, I haven't noticed it. The key is to let it sit. Put it away for a while. Don't touch it. That's it, and that's all.

By the way, do you shake them everyday or just let them sit undisturbed (if it makes any difference) ?

John makes a good point; I'd like to add that the smaller sample-size bottles (from Halo, anyway) tend to be ready to vape fresh from the mailbox, while the 30ml definitely needs a rest.

I second this! I just received 12-7ml little bottles, and they seem more complex and aged. My 30ml bottle are good but don't seem liked they are settled yet, especially my chocolate and coffee ones. Perhaps the 30ml bottles are more "made-to-order" than the small bottles. Just guessing, but this would make sense.
