Hi all,

Signed up today hoping to gain knowledge and maybe some buddies.

after 20+ years of the smellies I've done 24hrs without them, Where I live vaping is a bit of an issue so I'm trying to set myself a time to kick it all.

I picked myself a iStick Pico, few bottles of 0mg juice and day one is nearly over and I think i'm doing ok, I've set myself a mental goal of stopping any kind of smoking/vaping within 6 months or less.

any thoughts/comments or questions all welcomed.

cheers

I agree you need some form of nicotine unless you are using the patch or chantix. I know because Sept. 16th was my last cigarette. I went 0 nicotine but used step 2 of the patch for the first 7 days. Get some nic. you don't need the mental challenges. Grab a 7 mg patch or a 3ml juice with nic

I would strongly recommend not to begin with 0mg/ml liquids!

Better rather strong liquid, because the turkey will arrive...it is not just a mental challenge!
I agree 100%.

I would recommend he start with two strengths of nicotine. 1 that satisfied the normal cravings, and a higher strength for those times one REALLY has go have a cigarette!

Starting at 0 mg i feel he is really setting himself for failure!

Hi all,

Thanks for replies, maybe I should give some more background. In Singapore vaping can get you a $5k & upto 6 months. Getting juice is a real issue and you need to smuggle it in.

A little about my smoking habits, I only smoke in work or the pub, so from 6pm till 9am I do not smoke most nights. Also there can be some weekends where I don't have one too.

Also 6 month back I was two weeks into my cold turkey quit and was doing Ng very well, until that phone call. Some very bad news I didn't know how to handle so turned back to the smellies.

I do hear you all and pray I can tough it out, I might take a run to the Chemist in the morning for some nicgum.

This is the approach I used, and it may help you also.

I set a date to quit smoking. I was a dual user for a week. I vaped as much as I wanted, and allowed myself a few cigarettes a day, because I knew I'd still get cravings.

When the cravings got bad, I vaped even more. When that didn't stop the cravings, I allowed myself to smoke HALF of a cigarette. I saved the second half for the next really bad craving. Those second half butts tasted really bad, but that fact actually helped me to quit. By the end of the week, I was preferring the vape and hating the smokes.

I don't believe using zero-nicotine is going to work for you. I believe, from your smoking history, you're going to need 3 - 6 mg at the minumum. You can always cut down to zero-nicotine once you've given up the smokes.

Just remember, its not how many cigarettes you smoke that's important, its how many you DIDN'T SMOKE that's important.

Welcome and glad you joined. Zero nic here too. Sounds like you have your act together so you can do/handle whats right for you.

Thanks Bob, its all a bit late now to change my mind any way. No juice sold on my little island and don't want to have to go over board to smuggle some back. To add to my fun chewing gum is a pain in the ... to get here (some people think its banned but its not) you need to go to chemist and show ID to get a tub, I might pick up a pack of nicGum to help me through those moments.

I've taken to putting on my big motorbike gloves on the ride to work, a small thing it might sound but without I'd most days have a smoke in my hand as i started my ride.

To the other advise of do both, I did that at the weekend and found I was wanting a real smoke just the same and the Vape just as much. I think for me the date was set at yesterday and that's that!

Now I'm trying to find good places to by flavors as I've seen a few post of even them being stopped at customs :(

thanks all.

Hi and welcome Yogi.

Everybody has their own way of quitting analogs but I think few choose to do it without the nic. My own experience was to vape with 6 mg juice (I smoked 8 mg cigs) while smoking for several months. When the time to quit the cigs came I upped the juice to 18 mg but within weeks of quitting I'm back down to 3 to 6 mg juice. Good luck with it and don't stop trying.

Hi all,

Quick update and few questions, Now over 48hrs in and no want to go back. Used about 3ml (one refill of 2ml tank half left) first juice was 50/50 mix and i think that was disagreeing with me, gave me a funny tummy and bit of a throat issue. have switched to the other bottle which states 'Max VG' but no %.

I was playing with Watt's yesterday and am not sure where my sweet spot is so wanted some advise. my little Pico goes up to 75w but I think that is going to be far too much. I've been trying 20w - 35w and currently at 20w while my throat clams down. also playing with the airflow + watts really confuses matters. I'm liking more airy vape but find i have to kick the watts up, this was fine until by mistake my air-vent got a knocked closed and I took a big hit.

So to recap, loving it. No cravings, helps distract me when I would normally go smoke to dodge doing something.

One thing I did learn that was a great tip for all smokers, when quitting the brain will crave for 3 mins if you can distract yourself past that the major part will be over (until it comes back)

Sounds like you are Doing Good. Great to Hear.

It does take some Experimentation to find the Right Combination of PG|VG, Watts, Ohms, Airflow for a given e-Liquid. But you will narrow it down Sooner than Later.

Just keep doing what you are doing. And take things One Day at a Time.

The power you vape at is totally dependent on the type of tank, type/resistance of the coil, airflow etc - AFAICT you haven't mentioned yet what type of tank and coils you're using.

Bit of an update for you all.

This weekend I went out and had a beer or two and I'm happy & ashamed to say 4 puff's on a analog (two different nights, 2 puffs).

So here is the good part, On Friday I tried a 'Light' branded and confirmed it taste like crap. There was nothing at all I liked about it.

So on Saturday with my newfound braveness I asked a friend who smokes the same brand i did (double minty balls). First pull.... ooouuuu Minty..... Blahh smoke/ashy crap.. second pull... smoke, ash, badness...

I can't really say if the Nic from two pulls did anything as I was already 6 or 8 beers in by the time I did my experiment. What I am very happy with is that I can now taste how bad the things are and I really don't like it. Over the past years of smoking I had migrated onto Menthols and then the newest stronger Mintys once I could get my hands on, I guess now I know why i subconsciously did that as I really don't like the taste of smoke.

Some might question my reasoning for trying it again, I know myself its not the Nic I'm addicted too it is the habit. I think I have proven to myself that I can do without the Nic but I need to break the times I want to smoke and this for me was a good step in the right direction.

As a small side note, I do/did LOVE the Nic... When I had one analog i could easily have two or only a 5 min between to next. I also think this is one reason for 0mg Juice.

Any how, happy monday to all.

YB
