Yesterday was day four without smokes. It was the easiest day so far. In the morning I vaped a little before work. Just in case, I tool my new little friend with me to work. I did not need it. I've never been a work smoker anyway, but this is a uncharted territory for me. I took a few hits in the afternoon, but not due to a craving for cigarettes.

The evening was a little tougher. Smoking is far more than a physical addiction. You organize your life around it. In my case, that means regular trips to the back door in the evening. I bet a I spent over an hour every evening doing nothing more than smoking. Now, I just take a hit off the vape while on the couch. I suddenly have more time in the evening. That's taking some getting used to for some reason.

Otherwise, this is the best I have ever done trying to quit smoking. I still have that feeling in the throat you get from smoking. But, I have not coughed as much. Last night was the first time in years I did not wake up in the middle of the night needing a drink of water. That's improvement.

great just duno which e-cig to choose

The 510 is what I picked to start with. eCigExpress has a good starter kit with the Joye 510, a charger, two batteries and some cartomizers. It is a simple way to get started. Plus, you get a discount on the first purchase. Depending upon your habit, it pays for itself in a week.

I had a craving for a cigarette during my second week. So I lit one up. Three or four puffs was all I could handle. It tasted horrible to me, and I put it out quick. Whenever the urge comes for a cig all I have to do is remember the horrible taste and the urge quickly passes. It has been 10 months for me. Hang in there. If you do get the craving for a cig, light one up. You will be surprised how terrible it tastes. It ail have you wondering why you ever started smoking in the first place.

What do you think is the reason that this works so well? Before I tried e-cigs I went through patches, gums, and inhalers. They were expensive, didn't really work, and have TONS of associated health problems- my wife's hair started to fall out with the gum. I know behaviorally, this is a lot more like smoking, but seems way less damaging than the so called "pharmaceutical solutions" out there. Maybe its the idea that one does not have to quit, but simply transition.

Awesome!! Keep it up and soon you'll feel a million times better. Do you workout?

It is funny you mention it. I used to be a gym rat. I was the guy running five miles every morning before work. Then somewhere in my early thirties, the butts and the couch took over my life. I went from 190 with 2% body fat to 230 and unable to run across the street without getting winded.

That's what is keeping me going, I think. In the winter I noticed I was huffing and puffing walking through the snow. It really bugged me. For the first time, I suddenly felt like an old man, weighed down by his bad habits. That's what it is. Bad habits. It is not just mother nature; it is letting a stupid weed control your life.

Anyway, I took the stairs up the three flights to the office this morning. I was still huffing and puffing a little, but not in that scary way where you can't catch your breath. My Lord was that a good feeling. I'm thinking the goal for me is to make it to the end of the month and then get back to working out again, maybe join the gym.

GREAT for you that you want to go back!!! I was the "closet smoker hypocrite gym rat"-get up at an ungodly hour JUST so I could get a full hour of cardio plus weightlifting before work...then immediately light up after my workout. :( I'm almost a month in and that hour of running barely makes me breathe hard any more. You'll get your conditioning back-just wait until those lungs are purging out and you'll literally feel an oxygen high if you jog or run...oh yeah. :)
