Day four

I've 'quit' smoking 50 times in the last five years. Usually at the beginning of a month, which I planned in advance. Each time, I failed at quitting smoking, not because of some outside circumstance, but because I didn't have the will power.

My failures are my own.

Wednesday was my first day with an ecig. I had an analog for breakfast and checked the mail. My package arrived. I had three more as I waited for the battery to charge and enjoyed my coffee, a ritual decades old and ingrained as anything I've ever learned. I had one last analog on the drive to work. Habits are comforting.

A few hours into work and it was time for my first ecig 'smoke'. Cough. Choke. Light headed. These things are stronger than I thought. Maybe this throat-hit I've been reading about isn't for me. I continued with my ecig through the day. Still going outside for my 'smoke break', keeping the rituals I knew, embracing a new delivery.

4 days later and I haven't had a real (analog) cigarette since. On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being I would kill someone for a cigarette, the worst craving was a 2, which is about the same as a shoulder shrug.. no biggie at all.

I have tested every smoking trigger I have and found that I don't need cigarettes, I just need nicotine, at least for now. For those of you thinking about trying ecigarettes as a method to stop smoking, please, make the switch.

I had given myself until December 1, 2010 to stop smoking analogs as I thought the ecigs would help wean me off analogs, but this is so easy, I think I may already be analog free. I have an unopened pack of cigarettes inside my glove box if I need one. I haven't even been tempted yet, but just in case, they're there and I have until December to be analog free. If I smoke an analog, I will not have failed. Analogs were in my plan, I just didn't plan on not needed them so soon. My failures are my own and so are my victories.

Thank you to all those who have paved the way for us noobs, and good luck to those just beginning.

congrats on making the switch. I definitely hear you on the whole being lightheaded and wondering if it was for me part. First time i tried the e-cig i was a lot more dizzy/buzzed than i ever was off a cigarette and the throat hit just felt like it destroyed my throat, but once i got used to it i found that i began to enjoy it more and more. I haven't had a analog for a little over a week, and thats a big accomplishment for me since i struggled, as everyone else here probably has, to quit for 3-4 years.

I also think its good that you did include analogs in your plan in case you get a real bad craving. I felt bad when i still wanted a smoke after a meal at first, but eventually realized that i personally just couldn't make the switch instantaneously. Once i realized there was nothing to feel guilty about, since it is part of a process after all, i realized i didn't even want an analog anymore. Kinda funny how it worked out, but glad to hear e-cigs are working as well for you as they are for me.

That's exactly why I planned for the analogs. If I smoke one, I haven't failed and I won't feel bad about it. I am going to take it down a peg at a time. Not going to build a house in a day, so to speak.

This is the start of my 3rd day well actually I'm counting the days as 3:00pm est because of my sporatic sleep patterns and that was my last cigarette before I got my kr808.

So I got started on Thursday and have had a total of 24 analogs. This was my New Years resolution to get off analogs by the end of the year (again). Hopefully I'm going to do it this year.

Yep! dawhoo er story is the reason that I keep com'n back to dis here fourm day after day!! Wiff E-Smok'n changing the lives of so many people(mine included) it can be said that E-Smok'n is the REAL DEAL!!! Enjoy the good E-Smok'n days and work er self threw the bad E-Smok'n days. If ciggy's were .10cents a pack I still would'nt Smok'um!!

Day 9:

Still no analogs. I've also cut down on my vapping. The frequency has increased, but the duration is one or two drags and then I am done for about 20 minutes. We're moving to a new house. The shop I work in is opening a new store and I am in charge. All the spring stuff is here and I have to shoot all of that. And my shop is moving me to a different office across town. All has to be done by Saturday... so the stress is there, but I still havev't had an analog. Wanted one pretty bad last night, 5/10 for craving, but that was after drinking 4 vodkas. The VG is so much smoother than the PG. The PG makes me feel like I have a lump in my throat, but the VG isn't as 'satisfying' for the "I'm smoking" feel.

Morning coffee with cinamom VG JuicyLiquid is the best though

I had played around with mine when I first got it. It came with High, medium, low and zero cartridges. So I found the one a little lighter than what I normaly intal with a regular cig. It turned out to be the low wasnt quite enough and the medium was too strong.

Buy the time I qiut, I was down to 5 regular smokes a day and had bought low and zero carts. The first week I smoked the lows and I was about a 5 on the kill someone scale for like 4 days. The second I kinda threw the lows and the zeros in a pile and just grabbed one at random. By the time I finished up the month they were gone and all I had was the zeros, I had no withdraw.

I thought it would be that easy, but as someone posted the act of smoking it as hard a habbit to drop as the nictine. So I started up again two weeks ago and orderd another ecig.

My Blu should be here in a few days and Ill use the same process to stop with the analogs. but Ill hold onto it far a few months to help break the hand to mouth habit. Once thats done, Ill give this one to another smoker as well.

Good luck to you!

im really glad that you posted this. because i to am tryign to quit, i picked up smoking when i was about 14 or 15, because i wanted to be "cool" and fit in i guess, and it stuck. now at age 21 (going on 22 in less than 5 months) i have got my first e-cig (a joye 510) in the mail a few days ago, smoked maybe 2 cigs the first day i got it, 1 the next day, and havent not smoked any today ( i also dont have any left, but could easily ask my mother for one, as she smokes) im really impressed with these devices, and i hope it can help me to stop smoking completely. i am sick on coughing and being short of breath, and at 21 years old i get tired jogging down to the mailbox (at the end of the road, im the first house on the road....) and havign bad breath, oh the list could go on. anyways im just glad to hear some good stories of people being able to quit. its very encouraging for me to know that it can be done, and that i CAN do it too :) thanks

woohoo! go you! i'm just into day 5. so far the only time it's really bugged me (about a 4 on the 0-10 scale) is right before/after i go to bed. it makes it really difficult to go to sleep and i've actually considered taking my pv to bed with me. however, that may annoy my better half a bit so i haven't.
other than that, it's been fairly easy so far. a lot more than i expected at any rate. :)

Like others, I had to fool around with the hardware and flavors for about a month but now I'm on day 4 without a smoke and I seem to be doing just fine. Congrats on not smoking after the vodkas! Personally, I'm a wino and when I had some the other night it was an automatic cry for nicotine. I was out with friends and didn't know if the restaurant would allow it so I slipped into the bathroom and had a quick puff or three of my pv... it was magic! It satisfied the craving and was just enough. AND... I didn't have to worry about smelling bad after!

luckily i have not had any cravings for an analog since i got my 510. 29 days today :) I don't plan on quitting these i just get to grumpy without nicotine. 1-3 pack a day smoker for 10 years (3 packs the first few years cut back to 1 1/2 and stayed there) and quit the day i got mine. I love reading these stories. The only thing i miss is the nic buzz when you don't have an analog for a while but i can live without that since it was a rare occurrence
