After more than four months cigarette free I decided, out of curiosity, to take a drag on the analog my daughter was smoking. Since I was only going to hit it once I wanted to make it count, so I hit it hard. Huge mistake. I choked, I gagged, I hacked, tears came to my eyes, I almost spewed. My daughter laughed her .... off - the little witch. How on earth did I ever smoke 2 packs a day of those evil things? And loved it!

+1, a friend came over and I got 2 hits off it and pewie. We'd never enjoy liquid that tasted like that, and I L-O-V-E-D to smoke, never again.

Oh, you just made me spit diet coke on my screen... too funny about your daughter.

Seriously though, it is amazing to try it and feel the difference of smoking compared to vaping.

I was scared too when I gave up cigarettes, it felt like I was losing my best friend x10. Even though I was determined, there was a part of me that thought I could always go back if things got too tough, or if anyone gave me a good excuse, like if my husband forgot to pick up bread on his way home or something. I can't imagine going back now. I'd have to really work at it because my body rejected that smoke big time.

More to britta - My advice, as pretty much a newbie myself, is to get the best e-cig you can afford. I like my Ego. I tried at first with a disposable, it was worthless. Don't give up if things don't go right at first. There's a huge learning curve. One problem I had is that my taste buds were dead. I couldn't find a juice flavor that had any taste to it. I finally discovered Red Hot flavor and for the first time really felt satisfied with vaping. It was just a few days ago that I decided to re-try some of the flavorless juices that I had stored away and wow, they really do have flavor. Good flavor! Unfortunately, my sour taste buds have gone into overdrive. Things that I loved before like dill pickles, sour candy, even strawberries, make my cheeks suck in and my lips purse. I hope I get over that!

Pammers you are really inspiring me to try this. I just wish it didnt seem so complicated!

That's what I thought too. When I first started reading this forum it felt like everyone was talking a foreign language that I didn't understand. Once you get started with your first good quality e-cig it will all start to make sense. It's much easier to learn hands on than to simply read about it and try to understand. You really should go for it. I promise you won't regret it. As a matter of fact, my daughter had a party for her 21st birthday here a few months ago. Most of her guests (all over 21) were smokers so, since I no longer allow smoking in the house, I set up 4 different e-cigs and put them into rotation among the 'kids'. Not very sanitary but what the heck. At first they thought I was nuts but by the end of the party not one of them was going out on the deck for a quick smoke. They loved it.

Start with a good one for a better experience and keep it simple to start. There's a ton of info here and it seems like you have to learn it all to get started - but you really don't. Vaping can be whatever you want it to be - you can get in as deep and techie as you want to - or don't. Maybe you just want to enjoy it for the flavors and relaxation - That's cool too. :D

Find the involvement level that fits you best, your comfort zone, and vape on. :vapor:
