I just discovered all my DCT tanks have melted endcaps. I never expected this since I've never had a melting problem with any other stuff. I mix my own juice and only used gummi bear from FW in them. Could it be the alcohol that is used in the flavoring?
That is a new one on me. I have been using DCT for over three months and haven't had an oring leak, much less a cap melt. I vape several cinnamons which they say is the worst thing for tanks so I have to either get good ones or cheap ones. So far I have gone with cheap ones and haven't had any problems. I am not even sure which juice would have enough alcohol to melt the endcaps. I assume you have the Delrin ones. I will have to look at my caps closer!
Wow, never saw anything like that. I've been using these tanks for months with all kinds of juices. I don't use dual coil cartos, though. I cut the tube down for standard Boge carto.
Looks like chemical damage to the plastic... you say you only used Gummy bear flavored juice in there... by chance does it have a cinnamon or citrusy kinda flavor? If so that would explain the damage. Anything with cinnamon or real citrus extracts will cause issues with some plastics.
I have heard of this happening with Flavor West flavorings before. A friend of mine mixed a bunch of FW citrus flavors together in his juice and not only did it crack the poly carbonate, but it melted the delrin caps like in the picture. Must be something in the FW flavorings.
I use the same tanks that my4jewels uses. I just took apart on of my tanks that's been in use for a couple months. Mine look fine (thank foodness!) Here are the pics.
It's got to be the juice that's doing it. The main juice that has been ran through this tank is my diy caramel cappuccino mix (FA caramel cappuccino a drop of sweetener and either a couple drops of sweet cream or a couple drops of Capp vanilla custard). I also use plain Ole unflavored, warm sugar cookie (kbv) and a diy vanilla cookie mix (cappella vanilla custard with FA cookie and a drop of sweetener).
Thanks, Tom. I think my problem was caused by TPA blueberry/blueberry candy flavoring. I have some spare endcaps saturated in both flavors, so we'll see. Perhaps I will contact Linda at TPA and see if she can shed some light on this. I sure don't want it to be a common occurence.
48 hours later, both the TPA blueberry flavor and TPA blueberry candy flavor are starting to have a definite effect on the endcaps. So, I can definitively say that these flavors will mely plastic endcaps on DCTanks.
Too funny. I am the keeper of that list, and I have melted endcaps. Actually polycarbonate is a specific kind of plastic. I don't know what kind of plastic the DCTanks use for endcaps. There probably is some crossover...
My gummi bear also destroyed my viva nova tank but it was the older type of plastic(clear type). I got a bunch of tanks coming from china with metal endcaps. No more black plastic for me.
