Dead battery blues

So it was only a month ago that both of my 510 batteries up and died on me.

Now, yesterday one of my 808 batteries just died. I had used it all day and it was vaping like a champ. Then I got the flashy dead battery light. So I switched batteries and plugged the dead one in. The charger turned red but the light on the battery didn't flash.

I left it on the charger for a good couple of hours and took it off the charger, but the light wouldn't come on when I pressed the button. I figured maybe it hadn't charged enough since the charger light was sill red when I took it off the charger, but now it does the same thing over and over.

I'm so bummed. I only have one battery left now and it died on me an hour ago.

I was about ready to give my 510 up for my Vapor King, but now I'm not so sure. I barely got the thing in March. Does V4L sell low quality batteries or am I just incredibly unlucky with batteries in general?

Your V4L batts lasted 4 months. Is that really that bad.Consider the price of smokes.I think you should buy a new batt every month just to keep up on it.

I tried cleaning everything. It didn't help. The other battery still charges fine.

And no, 4 months isn't that bad, but this is not the first issue I've had with v4l batteries. When I first ordered I got autos and they didn't work at all. Had to get an exchange, which required an extra purchase so they could send out my replacements.

I guess I could understand better if both batteries had died like my 510 batteries did. It just seems weird that one works great and the other died.

Yeah, if only analog devices would behave digitally. I've been torqued at the auto manufacturers about that for decades. Seems like my gas mileage is never identical from one tank to the next. They make these lame excuses like traffic, air density and temperature, and even, if you can believe it, whether or not I'm towing a trailer up into the mountains!

If your battery lasts four months, you don't "have an issue with V4L", you have an issue with inexpensive battery chemistries. Certainly a battery can be constructed that will last at least ten times that long. It'll weigh literally eight times as much, it will be four times as large, and will cost three-fold as much. Those are just how power-density shakes-out in LiIon.

Assuming a pack-a-day smoker in California gets four months from two batteries, and vapes somewhere around 2.5ml/day, at typical posted pricing you've saved 60% and can replace those two batteries with another twenty and still be saving money.

[edit: Note for accuracy: I've not accounted for shipping, but by the same token, I've also not taken the continuous "10% discount" into account either. Assuming one balances their order vs discount, it should about come out in the wash. Any 10++% discounts, like the 20% discount running at the time of this posting, will put one additionally ahead.]

May not apply to the OP but could be useful to some..

In general, I am lucky enough to have been able to keep my batteries in good working order for a much longer period of time than some of my close friends. My friends, you see, arn't usually very careful with these delicate pieces of electronic equipment. Some of their failures have come as a result of an accidental drop while some others exposed their batteries to high levels of moisture (one dropped in pool and another died after being in a sweaty shirt pocket). These were all manual batteries.....

I tied two to a gerbil like Shuttle boosters, and then knocked the ends off. I thought I might be able to launch him into space with my latest invention - the Lithium Ion Drive™ . Alas, neither the gerbil nor the batteries work anymore, and V4L refuses to replace any of them.

Next gerbil experiment, I'll try 16550's instead! That'll teach V4L!

This is one of the reasons I have about 20 batts in rotation. Loaned one last week to a friend and she lost it. She was so upset i thought she was going to cry, i said no worries. She found it where she dropped it, it had fallen out of the car and was directly behind the tire

I take my old manuals that are used for a back up back up's backup, in the shower, yeah I vape in there too. One has gotten soaked and still works like a champ, I have dropped them, done everything to the old ones and everything works fine.

The new ones, well one got left out in the rain and it still works, I have not had a problem with it. I have dropped it and everything. It is used strictly at night, so I can charge one at night and do not have to worry about my backup being wasted.

All together I have 6 batts, all xl's and had a problem with one.

Autos? Ha, I killed 2 in a day's period ish? using them to refill. But they were the ones from my local smoke shop. Ill tell you what, V4L gives a great deal compared to my smoke shop. 2 batts a wall charger and 1 carto for 69 bucks...

This is 6 months and a day for me. I have 50+ batts in rotation, 'cause I am insane.

Some of the ones I bought earliest have now conked; others show signs of deep weariness, weltschmertz, and resignation. I'm in various stages of grief - but no way I'd expect them to last any longer. (I'm in NY and was shelling out $160/week on cigarettes...)

I still have a battery from my first order in September of 09. Some of the ones I have gotten since then have died but this one is still going lol.

I guess I'll just have to get some more and keep some extras on hand. It seems to be a good idea.

And for your information, Adrenalynn, I was not complaining about V4L refusing to replace the batteries, I never even asked them. In fact, the only reference I made to warranty replacement was in regards to my original battery purchase. You'll note that I indicated that V4L did replace the batteries.

I posted this thread because I wanted to rant and I wanted to get a feel for what other people have been experiencing with their V4L batteries. I know they aren't the only ones who sell 808 batteries.

My DH was sad because one of his batteries would not flash when it went on the charger, he assumed it was toast. I have had a few that stopped flashing in the charger but still charged, it took longer than the usual 2 hours though. They are probably on their way out......

He put that bad boy in the charger overnight and it did charge. He's happy. I ordered him some new batteries anyway, since we both vape we order one or two a month.

Anyways, might be worth leaving it in the charger overnight, you might get lucky too.

Indubitably. When there isn't any real drama, a rant can create artificial drama and there's little of the risk involved in clubbing baby seals or rolling homeless people. I can appreciate that. I'd have respected it more had you managed to work "global warming" into there somewhere. Maybe blame that on V4L - or blame vaping PG/VG blends for depleting the ozone layer or something. Try harder next time.

OK...In case you haven't heard yet, V4L does NOT require you to make another order in order to get your exchange. If you do not wish to order anything in the very near future, they are happy to mail replacements to you. You only need to ask.
