Thanks, I guess it's a matter of time. I'm new to dripping, so when I get a dry hit I assume I did something wrong, though I know logically it's just that the cotton is dry.

Of course, it's always when I take the biggest inhale when the dry hit comes. I guess I still need to get in the groove better.

Try taking a short mouth hit (no lung inhale) before a deep inhale. When exhaling the mouth hit, the amount of vapor, taste, sound of the atty, should give you an indication if it is safe to proceed.

Thanks, though I am normally cautious. Its just my luck/bad timing that when I'm felling brave/lazy and just go for it is when the dry hit comes. I've yet to learn my lesson.

I actually always take a few "cold" hits to try and suck the juice a bit into the wick to stop that from happening.
Though I think that only works well with bottom feeding.

It's similar. I do cold draws like you describe with bottom feeders or direct dripping, but with RBAs I've found I can't hear a little gurgle or hiss to tell one way or the other. For me, with an RBA, I've found seeing the vapor is a better indicator.

I hope you don't learn it the hard way. I have had one really bad hit in my life and I seriously thought I had drawn blood. No joke.

I always start with a small test drag on any device I'm vaping. I do inhale it, but it's no where near a full sized hit. As Ocelot said, I get a really good indication if it's safe to proceed. I've been vaping various rebuildables at reasonably high power for over a year now and experienced a couple of full burnt hits early on. They can be really nasty and are not healthy.

You'll get the hang of it. You can err a bit on the side of flooding instead of dry for a while. That doesn't hurt, just means you'll have to take a couple of 'throw away' hits when it's a bit flooded until you've cleared out the excess juice.
