have you ever looked into any of the following ingredients in flavors?

Sodium Benzoate
Acesulfame -K
Tocopherols

and traces of citric acid i believe are standard, a lot of people have added those to try for throat hit. but i have a couple flavorings that have the above in them, figured i'd see if the Mad Vaper had any knowledge ;)

Sodium Benzoate
Material Safety Data Sheet:

SODIUM BENZOATE

I wouldn't inhale it myself. Wikipedia (yeah, I know) has this to say:

In combination with ascorbic acid (vitamin C, E300), sodium benzoate and potassium benzoate may form benzene[8], a known carcinogen. Heat, light and shelf life can affect the rate at which benzene is formed.
Professor Peter Piper of the University of Sheffield claims that sodium benzoate by itself can damage and inactivate vital parts of dna in a cell's mitochondria. Mitochondria consume oxygen to generate ATP, the body's energy currency. If they are damaged due to disease, the cell malfunctions and may enter apoptosis. There are many illnesses now tied to DNA damage, including Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases, but above all, the aging process in general.

Acesulfame Potassium
is an artificial sweetener. I won't eat the stuff, much less inhale it. I have no hard evidence on this. I just won't do it.

Tocopherols
are Vitamin E. While I couldn't find anything directly relating to inhalation by humans, I did find this on BiomedExperts, pertaining to experiments with sheep:

Victims of fire accidents who sustain both thermal injury to the skin and smoke inhalation have gross evidence of oxidant injury. Therefore, we hypothesized that delivery of vitamin E, an oxygen superoxide scavenger, directly into the airway would attenuate acute lung injury postburn and smoke inhalation.

They seem to think that inhalation of vitamin E can help heal lung injury due to burn and smoke inhalation.

hahah, it was cheap of me to trick you into reading those things for me wasn't it? but...i've adopted a more "if walrus will try it, i'll try it" attitude.

i had a couple "flavorit" flavors still, there's an old post i made about them. it's a sweetener for kids to add to meds, pharmacies use them.

3 of the 5 (pack) were "safe" and these last two were questionable.

orange: PG, water, alcohol, nat and art flavors, TOCOPHERALS (as preservative)

sweetening enhancer: water, citric acid, SODIUM BENZOATE, ACESULFAME - K

i hadn't tossed them yet, and i kept forgetting to dig into those few chemicals. maybe i'll save them for when i drink nyquil.

i mean, i don't drink nyquil.

thanks again, btw.

What's funny? Peter W. Piper is a professor of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Sheffield:

Piper

Although it would be funny if he did his experimentation with rats.

However I was thinking more along the lines of...
After a long hard day of practicing Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Sheffield.

"Peter Piper picked a peck of pickeled Peppers"

And if Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

Ok no more beer for me now!!!

lol can you imagine the grief that guy had to deal with growing up? And yeah, I got my 'nursery rhymes' mixed up. Unless he likes pies... then he'd be Pied Peter Piper.

No problem :) I don't mind Googling. I have the time, and I don't mind learning something new. Now I won't have to look it up again the next time I see those. Who am I kidding? I won't remember them until I look them up again.
