Decided to give vaping another shot, not going so great.

I tried vaping about a year ago, giving it another shot now. I bought an Ego Carto kit along with 5 juices from 3 different vendor and 10 Boge cartos. I heard that the Boge were great stuff but 2 tasted burned right out of the gate and 1 was DOA. The rest have this.....plastic taste, maybe styrofoam. They don't seem to suck up the juices well either, I tried the condom refill method and the juice justs sits inside the center tube. When I try to fill them up by dripping, I drip 3 drops and have to count to 15 before the juice is absorbed and I can add more.

Mostly I'm just worried about the taste but I am also wondering if I bought bad cartos. Any ideas?

I think you're not putting in enough juice. They hold about a ml of juice (30 drops).

I hold it on an angle, drip in 5-10 drops, shake like a thermometer, 5 more, shake repeat until it's full.

Where did you get the cartos? CCV guarantees his cartos. As a matter of fact, I bet most good vendors would if you have a lot of DOA cartos.

But I do think the issue is they aren't completely full. The longer you let them sit the better. What kind of juice are you using? Is it all VG? You have to be patient with the first fill so you don't burn them.

Sometimes if I'm in a hurry I use a syringe. But really the best way is to drip it in there and make sure they soak up the juice. Do a couple at once. The ones that taste like plastic, turn the carto over and drip a few drops in the battery end. That's where you have to make sure the carto isn't dry.

I do the thermometer method as well. When I use a 60/40 on a new carto it bubbles on the matting for a few seconds before it get absorbed.

Nope, it's still there. Hmmm, I had that carto from earlier sitting in a condom filled with coffee juice for about half an hour, that seems to have masked the flavor. It's all a bit rough still. It's pure VG juice and I'm getting a big throat hit and my throat feels a bit sore. Maybe rinse them out?

are you getting drips from the bottom of the carto (threaded end) when you drip into it? you wont know its completely full until you get a drip from the bottom. rotate the carto in your fingers while dropping into it. i have used about 50 boge cartos by now and never had a single one tasting burnt after a fill.

You picked a great setup. It totally sounds like you're having problems getting enough juice in. The condom method should be sufficient, but remember to blow through the connector end into a tissue. Also, the burnt taste may linger if you already tried to use them before they were full. Good luck. You can do this

Yup.... that's how they should look.
I have used them extensively for the last few months and never experienced what you are describing???

Thanks for the replies everyone. Completely submerging the carto into the condom did seem to help. I filled the condom up and just let the carto soak for about 20 minutes, cleaned it up and the taste did improve. I also put the drip tip on, that opened up the flavor.

I think the real problem is my tastes buds are shot. I handed the PV to someone to try out and she freaked, I mean freaked out saying "Oh my god what is this? Jelly Belly Carmel Popcorn?" To me it still taste a bit synthetic with an underlying creamy sweetness. Hopefully is a couple days my senses of taste/smell come back and I can really enjoy this. Two more questions:

1. A big hit makes me cough/choke. Does this pass after the adjustment period?

2. The flavor I had my friend try was actually just Cappuccino, but am I the only one that wants a Jelly Belly Caramel Popcorn?

Most people do get over the cough/choke reaction. Some people find the PG in most juices to be too irritating, and use higher VG or all-VG juice. Others love the throat hit (TH) they get from PG juices.

Almost everyone goes through some taste bud weirdness. I have juices that were just awful when I first tried them, now, three months later, they're delicious. Could be the "steeping" time actually improved them, could be that my taste buds are settling down.

But for sure, it 's always best to keep your cartos on the wet side. When they start to vape dry, they taste disgusting and really irritate your throat.

And I, too, have found Boge cartos to be consistently reliable.
