I usually lay it out like this.....

3 piece : (510) if you don't mind the extra attention it requires to maintain the atomizer and the cartridges, then it's great, more vapor than a KR808D-1, and a bit more flavor hit.

2 piece : (KR808D-1) If you're always out and about, or have no time or desire to mess with anything then this is perfect, by far the simplest e-cig available. It costs more to just vape prefilled cartomizers, but you can refill them too or buy blanks to use your own favourite juices. It cost's anywhere from $7.50 to $10 for a pack of 5 prefilled ones, one lasts about the equivalent of 3/4 of a pack of cigs for me.

So really if you want to save as much money as possible then a 510 is for you, which comes along with the extra fiddling.

If you want the simplest option available (KR8) then you pay a bit more for the convenience by using cartomizers.

Both kits can be found for around 35 bux.

I went with the KR808 two piece. I read and read after having the 510 suggested to me at first, but all I read was how to fix this or that to make it work or make it better.
I wanted to get off analogs, not get frustrated, I couldn't be happier with my choice!
Read a lot, there is plenty of information on here to help guide you in the way you want to go.

I use both styles on a daily basis. I started with a 3 piece model and added the KR8 a couple months later.

For me, the 2 pc model works well for flavors that tend to stick to an atomizer ... like menthol or clove. With a 3 pc model, I needed to have a dedicated atomizer for the sticky flavors. In the end, the cartomizer was more economical for these.

But I prefer the 3pc e-cig for things like Coffee, or Tobacco or Fruit flavors.

Vaping is a journey and we each tend to find our preferences over time. There is a certain unavoidable learning curve to the e-cig.

I am deciding on an e cig as well. I have noticed with the 510 and the juice i tend to cough, i am looking for something that isnt quite so strong. Any suggestions?

It may be the juice, not the e-cig model. Are you using a higher nicotine level? (24mg+) The higher the nic level, the more likely it is to make you cough. (Better throat hit.)

It may be that you're inhaling directly into your lungs instead of into your mouth - pause - then into your lungs.

It may be that you need time to acclimate to vaping. Lots of people have coughing issues in the beginning.

Lastly, it may be that you have a sensitivity to PG and would see an improvement if you switched to liquids with a vegetable glycerin base.

Apologies if you already know all of this...
