After 6 months of vaping, the wife and I are finally ready to move away from the ol' KR808D-1. I figured that one of the eGo styles would be the next logical step (ok... I wanted a ProVari, but she nixed that one...). But the question is which one to go with. There's the eGo, iGo, Yugo, GoGo, Riva, and Echo.

Right now I'm leaning toward the Echo or Riva with the Echo-e Cartos, but I can't decide. On the 808s we always preferred the manuals, but from what I hear the Echos are a big step up for autos.

Ok... So any thoughts about the Echo vs. the Riva?

I have both, the Riva (901 version) and the Echo. The Echo-e cartos produce more vapor, but I get a hint of burned flavor with my VG juices. The Echo batt is excellent as far as the auto aspect goes, and there's plenty of vapor there to satisfy me. The only annoyance I find is the battery charger being 150ma takes forever to recharge the batts. They really need to ship this with 2 chargers per kit if 150ma is the max.

I think the Riva 1100 with the echo-e is a good setup but I prefer the automatic 1300. The carto holds almost a ml more and I really like the auto battery.

Hey FlipnOut, I was wondering if you could give a little more info on the Riva 901 with the Echo carts. Do the regular(KR808) threaded echo carts work on the Riva bat? If so how does it compare? I am assuming (maybe incorrectly) that the Riva is a manual.

Thanks

The Riva is a manual, correct. The regular threaded echo carts do work on it, but it leaves about a 3/8" gap that's not so pretty. If yer handy you could probably fill that gap. The echo carts for the Riva still leave about 1/8" gap, still not perfectly attractive.

Hmm... so the difference is cosmetic? Seems the echo designers could have made it a little more universal...

Thanks for the info! I started off using manual bats. I currently have some Bloog and similar auto bats. Right now, I am kind of stuck as to go for manual or auto. I do like the Bloog quite a bit, and with all of the rave reviews the echo is getting I may be leaning that way...

The echo designers made the Echo-e and -v to fit the Ego, not the Riva. No way to make it universal since the cones for those two battery types are different. The echo carts are designed for the Echo, they hold more liquid than the Echo e and v models, because they don't have to incorporate the "cone" from the Ego into the design. The end of the Echo battery is flat, with a kr808 connection coming out of it.

I just want the best of both worlds!
I suppose I can't complain too much... In reality the Echo seems to be the next step on my vapin' journey.

Of course now I need to decide between black or stainless...

The chrome looks pretty nice. I have a black one and a chrome also. I got a silver aluminum 801 drip tip from Ikenvape that really works and looks good on it. The black looks good too and the chrome might be hard to find right now. I see cropduster just has the 1300 black left in stock. I don't know what Dput from Mtn Vapor has. I got mine from Johnnybass but he doesn't have his website up yet.

The iGo is a great PV. I 've been using up a lot of my leftover 808 prefilled cartos, which is nice for a quick change-up, or use blanks for flavor testing (isn't that funny that a regular carto is now considered a small sampler tester? LOL)

The cartos are huge (around 4ml) and the battery (1100) lasts all day. It charges in about two hours. I love that it's a manual battery so I don't have to worry about spills, which do happen if you fill really full and don't blow out all the excess.

I've been following with interest the evolution and improvements in the auto pvs and cartos. My introduction to e-cigs and vaping was the oldstyle auto m401s and penstyles years back (no cartos, just carts back then) and lately I've been looking for a good alternative/addition to my manual big batt mods. The Echo caught my eye (thanks, txtumbleweed) and I placed an order for one a few days ago. :)
