Morning Clowder!

Since I love the Lime Cheesecake, and it seems like I got Sonic hooked on it too, I guess we're gonna have to give the KLCC a try very soon!

Morning CLowder!

Got another Freebie for ya's! This one may actually appeal to some of our elder members as well since it doesn't require twitch muscle reaction speeds nor is it loaded with demons, blood, gore, warfare, or anything like that.

It's the Sim's 2 Ultimate collection.

the_sims2_089_1680-620x387.jpg

The Sims series is kind of popular. By “kind of popular” I mean “the original game won the Guiness World Record for best-selling PC game of all time after selling 16 million copies.”

This week, Electronic Arts is giving people a lot of Sims for the low, low price of free. By redeeming a code, you can get The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection for $0.

That includes, according to a post on NeoGAF:

The Sims 2
The Sims 2 University
The Sims 2 Nightlife
The Sims 2 Open For Business
The Sims 2 Pets
The Sims 2 Seasons
The Sims 2 Bon Voyage
The Sims 2 FreeTime
The Sims 2 Apartment Life
The Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff
The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff
The Sims 2 Holiday! Stuff
The Sims 2 Celebration Stuff
The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff
The Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff
The Sims 2 Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff
The Sims 2 IKEA Stuff
The Sims 2 Mansion & Garden Stuff

So, uh, yeah. That’s a lot of stuff.

The only catch is that you’ll need an account for Origin, EA’s digital distribution service. That account is free, and you should already have one if you’ve played the likes of Battlefield 4 on PC already.

That aside, redeeming the free copy of the game is extremely simple. Just log into the Origin client on your PC or go to their code redemption page online and enter the code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS. (Pro tip: You don’t actually have to love The Sims. EA won’t know if you’re lying.) I tested it myself before writing this post.

Granted, this isn’t exactly a new product. The Sims 2 original launched in 2004, and EA is gearing up for the release of The Sims 4 later this year. Still, the game holds up much better than you might expect from something that’s a decade old, and this is a lot of content available for zero dollars.

Hurry, though. This deal is only good until July 31, 2014 at 12 p.m. central time.

Get it here.

Per Wiki, Sims 2 is the best selling game of all time? (Over 100 million copies sold)
The Sims 2 is a 2004 strategic life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to the best-selling computer game, The Sims.

The game has the same concept as its predecessor: players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life. The Sims 2, like its predecessor, does not have a defined final goal; gameplay is open-ended. Sims have life goals, wants and fears, the fulfillment of which can produce both positive or negative outcomes. All Sims age, and can live to 90 sim days depending on the degree to which their aspirations are fulfilled.

I don't mind getting used to the new layout but my home page on ECF is Subscribed Threads with New Posts. They've added "Latest Infraction Received" to the bottom of that page.

Talk about not letting a subject drop — there's something really rude (and annoying) about reminding me, each time I come to ECF, that Elendil scolded me for being off topic in the Classifieds on July 16, 2010. Let it go already!

Turns out I already had an account. My main gamesite is Pogo and they're linked.

How do you play? It looks like you download something then play offline. Is that right?

Haven't tried it myself just yet. Generally once you log into Origin, the game will be downloaded and installed from there. After you enter the code, it will appear in "My Games". Then you can click on it to start the download and install.

Otherwise, once installed, from "my games" you can click on it to play it. Not sure about this one, but some games require you to be logged into the service in order to play. Most Steam games are that way.

In those cases, even if it's not an "online game" where you're playing with or against others, you still have to open the service and login (most keep you logged in) in order to play the game. Or if you clicked the game's icon to start it, it will automatically open the service.
