You gotta try the NY Cheesecake (my #1 favorite). It's the cheesecakiest of all the cheesecakes. Everything else is just toppings. :D

A few other favorites where you really can't go wrong:

Sweet Gingerbread - Tastes so much better than the name would have you believe. Even if you're not a fan of gingerbread at all.
Lemon Meringue Pie - Tastes just like eating the real thing.
Caramel Cappuccino Cheesecake - Tastes like a cup of good strong rich sweet creamy coffee, the kind they make in heaven.
Tiramisu - Anyone I ever let try it, said it tasted exactly spot on perfect. I never tried the real thing, but I love Deej's vape.

Any of the others I could suggest I would probably say is a matter of taste. But I've yet to meet anyone who didn't like the above.

I don't like the Caramel Cap Cheesecake -- even though I was the first to ask for it. Technically, it's perfect but the coffee is toooooooo strong for me.

Oooooh. I wonder how Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake would taste. (Off to the suggestions thread.)

ETA: And Poeia's Minty Gingerbread is a combo of Peppermint and Sweet Gingerbread. Think peppermint icing on a gingerbread house.

Morning everbuddy!

Happy Sundae!

Good morning :)

Thanks for the dubstep videos, Trav. Love the music ...

Glad you like it. But dunno if I'd want to pigeonhole her music as dubstep. Clearly she does use the dubstep style? technique? essence? (whatever) to fill in as the bass line / rhythm section on a lot of her original pieces.

But to call it straight up dubstep (at least to me) suggest the pretty much annoying, way over used aspect of the genre. I mean some (probably a lot) of dubstep just seems like noise for the sake of noise set to a rhythm.

I consider myself pretty open minded and can appreciate just about any style of music when it's well done. When the gimmicks like hooks, drops, etc are done artistically and not over used. In my opinion, she uses the dubstep styling just enough that if anything it actually elevates the genre.

I've always gotten a big kick out of contrast when it comes to music & art. For example when I was DJ'ing and got hold of a 1920's song on the technology of a CD. To me the contrast of her refined orchestral, almost angelic violin, with the raw (potentially) unrefined power of a dubstep bass line is genius. Though the producer does manage to keep the dubstep aspect to a controlled level, which makes it all the nicer imo.

Edit: Oh yeah, if you like this type of music, there's a couple of "offshoot" genres you can lookup. The one's I know of are "Chillstep" and "Liquid Dubstep". They're much more laid back than the bass driven, in your face, type of straight up dubstep.

Of course there may be others since there seems to be new genres / sub-genres coined every day.

Good morning Trav :)

you overestimate my knowledge of music

...I'd seen the ice video before and loved the music. But I don't know what dubstep is, let alone that it's a whole genre. i just called it dubstep because the only place i'd seen the word before was in that video and i couldn't remember her name. I didn't want to search back (been doing too much of that lately to find where i left off in long threads).

Thanks Deej & Poeia...the contest is always fun.....I just can't stay as long this late in the afternoons....
Oh is there someway that the spread sheet can be fixed on the all flavors side to alphabetical to match the flavors remaining....I think it is alphabetical in column B......I use the second sheet to cut & Paste.....Thank you again....

LOL no worries.

If I were to tell you in "dubstep speak" that a brutal, filthy, brain melting, earquaking drop was considered a good thing, you'd probably get what I mean better. Since I'd use none of those words to describe Lindsey Stirling's music.

This is one of the most classic and illustrative examples I can think of. See if you can tell what is considered the "brutal drop". (hint: right around 39 sec)

I actually like this song believe it or not. Mainly because there seems to be some method to the madness. I've heard some dubstep that didn't seem to have much a pattern to the noise & sound effects at all.

Deej, I have a question.

What is that hand-written number in the upper left corner of my packing slip?

It's the magic number that links your order to its position in the day's run. :)

We lay out between 60 - 120 bottles in any given run... that covers quite a few orders...

The run-sheet that we generate tells us how to mix the bottle, then what workbin (numbered sequentially) the bottle goes in.

When we go to pack, the number on the packing slip tells us which workbin contains the bottles for that particular order.

Now, if you're lucky enough to have a letter on the upper right of the packing slip, that tells us how to ship it. :)

To any competitor who might happen to see this post... it's a very inefficient way of handling orders... you'll most likely want to not try and copy me...

Here's a question (open to all)...

Would it be better to move the Games to Sunday?

Would a different time (Saturday or Sunday) work better for you?

so very true... I'm looking to please most of the people most of the time so the Game doesn't run 5+ hours!

It was alphabetical until a couple of weeks ago. I switched it to group by category so if people want to see what flavors are related to one they're interested in they can find it.

I just added another one with all the flavors alphabetically (and renamed them both to be clear.)

Question: Why not copy/paste from the flavors remaining list? Then you won't accidentally grab a flavor that's been deleted (assuming I or anyone else pitching in is caught up on deleted picked flavors.)

I think Trav was referring to this request. As the only maintenance required for the full lists is to paste on any new flavors — a task that will take about 10 seconds when a new flavor is announced — there's no reason not to have it both ways.

If the game had 30 players who each entered a pick every 5 minutes on the dot, the game would last 16.6 rounds -- 1 hour and 20 minutes. And it will only get longer when Deej adds more flavors (as he has been prone to do in the past.)

And there aren't 30 people playing it.

If we recruit more people, it would shorten the game. It would be hard for the list keeper(s) to keep up. I'd probably enter my guess and work backwards until I reached my previous guess (which is what I do now part of the time.) But the list isn't meant to be definitive, just helpful. I threw it up there because a) I already had it on a spreadsheet and b) in early versions of the game half a dozen people were keeping lists of what had been picked and posting them. This keeps people from duplicating the effort of others and keeps the game thread cleaner and easier to read.

By the way, we're recruiting list maintainers. If you are comfortable with spreadsheets, play the game frequently and would be willing to pitch in when you can, I can give you access.

One possibility, now that people don't have to get the flavor they guessed, is to limit the number of flavor categories in each week's games. Yesterday it took about 2 1/2 hours for 200 flavors to be guessed.

It's not a great option. I like that, even though the most efficient way to play is to select one of the flavors at the top of the page, we all comb the list to select flavors that sound interesting.
