Deep South trip - what's not to miss?

Memphis In May
Your timing could not be any better with Memphis on your list. Memphis, TN is not to be missed in May. All month long it's one big party. Memphis In May Music Festival and The International BBQ Cook Off will be in full swing. The larger acts as well as the cook-off will be in Tom Lee Park off of Riverside Drive. Beale Street will also be crawling with musicians and even more great food. Be sure to catch the Sunset Symphony and pack a picnic. You can't leave Memphis without seeing The Peabody Hotel and it's famous ducks. Check out the Commercial Appeal (Memphis' major newspaper) online, they'll keep you posted on all the events and activities so you can plan accordingly. I grew up about half an hour's drive south of Memphis. It's had it's problems in the past, but in May it really turns on the charm and hospitality.

If you are going in late May visit Charleston, SC. Great place. Speleto USA starts on the 27th.
