It's not censorship when you are using a platform that has terms of service which all of us agreed to when we signed up, whether you read the fine print or not doesn't matter. The owner and his admin decided what is decorum and what is not at the beginning, and also evolving as the forum progressed, ie the cannabis stuff. I've seen at least one prolific poster "moved on" because she liked to throw a word around which is a derogatory expression of less than intelligent people, word starts with i and ends with t...

People happened. They forget that ECF is a forum, and not real life. They forgot that this is a Thread within many sub-threads within ECF, also, of which....is not real life. More of a place to get away from real life . You know... the Internet. But sometimes, the two can be challenging to separate for some.

A-okay by me. Your response to me came after a rather nasty and long-winded swipe at you by one of the powers that be here (Retired1, I may as well go for it) who lacks even a thimble of tact and is completely absent a sense of humor.

In my opinion, what happened here: This forum and its lack of humor and good fun is symptomatic of the general malaise of our country. Half the country thinks the election was stolen, they believe that the government is increasingly in control of too much of their lives, the purchasing power of their money (if any they have) is dwindling while they are told inflation is low, they have been conned by the covid as well by the 'experts' and rule-makers who don't follow their own rules. That half also realizes they are powerless to effect any change. It will not improve over time.

The other half is happy as a clam that the orange man is gone. They find the covid rules and most governmental control (except e-cig control) to be reasonable and are happy to abide by them and find the government to be a force for the greater good.

There is a very minuscule middle ground. Humor and fun are no longer to be found anywhere.

PS: I agree that ECF can decide that which is appropriate here and what is not. It's their ball and they can set the rules.

It's very simple. If a person brings their issues whether it be political or personal to a place that was setup to be the opposite of that, they're going to kill the vibe. If you wallow in sorrow or anger, you become blind to anything else.. That's common sense.
If someone is troubled for whatever reason that is making them unhappy ... then that's their bag, they're carrying it and brought it in with them, because it wasn't in here. Most folks check their bags at the door.

A lot is going on, and guess what, there's not a thing we can do about it.
If pressure is getting to them, TAKE A BREAK, regroup come back if you choose or not.
If it's something serious , and you feel the need to get it off your chest, There's support groups available somewhere to help you deal with your feels. ECF aiint it. That's not going to change.
There's no reasonable expectation of free speech on a public or social platform. There are Specific private Websites for just that.

I mean.. dam it's pretty cut and dry. If you bring a dark cloud, eventually it gonna rain.
No one else's fault for the storm that follows.

I would suggest that the first half realized they could effect change, by voting for and electing Trump (no angel nor a perfect human being, LOL) the first time. But now, with a suspicion of election misdeeds, their distrust of the system will only grow.
