I have been vaping what I think is a PG/VG blend over the past week (Dekang DK-TAB). I feel INCREDIBLY dehydrated no matter how much water I drink (and I normally drink A LOT of water anyway as I go to the gym and do cardio 5-6 days a week).

Does anyone else have this problem and if so is there anything to prevent this or lessen the effects? I'm not even vaping heavily, maybe 8-10 puffs on a manual kr808, 2-3 times a day.

What is causing this dehydration? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I felt very dehydrated when I first started vaping with itchy dry skin, itchy throat, cotton mouth. I think I was overvaping. I quit cigs from the first day I started vaping so I would vape really heavy during the cravings. About 3-4 months in is when it started getting better and by my 6th month I had almost no side effects from vaping or quitting cigarettes until I got a cold that the rest of the family had that gave me a sore throat that wouldn't go away because of the PG/nic irritating it so now if I can get that taken care of it would be all good again.

I find that PG really dries me out and I can't vape 100% PG juices comfortably. Try more Vg in your juice, it doesn't dry you out as much. They make a mouth rinse for people with dry mouths, that might help. If all else fails try a cool shower or bath, you'd be amazing how much water you skin can soak up when you dehydrated.

Does VG / PG really cause dehydration?
Yes it dries out my mouth and throat, I assume the vapor extracts moisture from your mucous membranes but can it really dehydrate you? I just can't see it removing enough water from your body to cause anything more than the feeling of a dry mouth and throat. A lot of people have expressed that they get dehydrated from vaping but can anyone prove this or are you just feeling dried out?????

I ask this question because I also get a dry feeling from vaping all the time ( 50+ drags per day) but I've not changed my water intake in months and I've not seen any change in my,,,excuse me.....urine color, which is a simple way to judge your water balance.

So does vaping really cause dehydration????

Good point.

Update: increased my water intake even more and don't feel as dehydrated. I did add several BCAAs and a few other workout supplements so not sure if that helped out. Didn't change my juice at all. It seems my body either adjusted slightly or one of the other things I did helped out.

You have to ask yourself a few base questions here. Are you like me a person that was critically dehydrated all of the time before vaping? Are you truly Dehydrated or just experiencing dry mouth and throat? What is the color of your urine? Are you getting stomach cramps? Signs of dehydration other than cotton mouth?

I am not saying any of you are or are not just trying to make sure that everyone out there is making sure that they are properly diagnosing, nothing can get a better answer than a Dr's visit, but if you make sure to do your due diligence, you can rule out alot of things.

This has me puzzled, as well. I haven't noticed any of the telltale signs of dehydration since I've started vaping. Typically, you don't urinate frequently if you're dehydrated, and your urine is dark yellow colored. i don't have either of these problems, and I've been chain vaping. Does it dry out your throat and lungs to a certain extent? I'm sure it does, but I don't think it actually dyhydrates your body. Just my two cents.

I think this is one of those cases where something gets repeated so many times that it becomes gospel.
