a single coil read around 1.6 and both of them together read .8 :/ and there's still a delay

Like Raycecar said, higher resistance will take a bit longer. Your 1.6ohm coils added together might read as 0.8ohm and draw from the battery as 0.8ohm, but they're still two 1.6ohm coils. Just because they measure as lower in tandem won't make them glow faster.

How long is the delay?

What mod/atomizer/battery are you using?
It def helps to know everything about the setup first.

the better question to ask is what gauge wire are you using and how is it wrapped, 4 or 5 wraps or more like 8 or 9?

no matter the resistance or if theres more then one coil, the amount of actual wire will have an effect as well, the more wire in the way the slower it gets.

the concern shouldn't be focused on the time it takes to actually glow, but more if it heats up evenly and makes plenty of vapor, once wet you shouldnt have a glowing coil anyways. it needs to just reach operating temperature without too much delay.
