Derringer build

Hi y'all.I'm looking into purchasing a Derringer. Which means, I most likely will. I'm planning on using it mainly for my sweet/dessert type flavors. That being said, I'm looking for your opinions. What type of build works better, on this atty, for those kind of juices? Low or high ohm? Single or dual? I'm a novice so,the most advanced coil I can build is parallel or twisted. Also, would you recommend the wide bore cap? I love the one for my Mephisto v3. I'm wondering if spit back is a problem on such a short atty.

I forgot to mention I have 28g and 26g to work with, and using an istick 50w. All I'm hoping for is suggestions/opinions to help with the dessert type flavors. Especially the creamy ones.

my go to coil is a single microcoil, 28 gauge, 8 wraps around a 2mm screw driver. 1.2ish ohms. Cotton wick. I use it around 15-20 watts. Lots of flavor on my derringer. I replaced the drip tip with a cheap skinnier one...but the fat one works too!

My first derringer build was loosely twisted 26g dual coil. One strand N80 and the other A1.

For the negative posts, I flattened out the wire at the twists so they would fit through the slits in the posts. Great flavorful build and a great atty!

N80 = nichrome 80. You do not want to run nickel without a temperature sensing device.

How do you guys post pics? Everything I try it say over 1MB and I never can. I have a .27 Ohm single coil 26 twisted tight with a single strand of 26G parallel with it 7 wras on 2mm preci sion screwdriver. Sweet flavor.. vape this at 45 Watts love it.

Thats pretty much mine, although Im using 26ga with 10 wraps at 2mm. Puts it at 0.9-1.0 ohms. Same wattage range depending on the juice, flavor and vapor for days. My Tobeco clone didnt come with a driptip so I bought the 15mm one of these: Wide Mouth Ultra Wide Bore Stackable Delrin Drip Tip - Avid Vaper. The drip tip actually cost as much as the Derringer did hah. The two together look like they were made for each other.

a bit complicated, but I was out of 26 and 24 gauge wire. Had an abundance of 32 gauge wire and no tiny clearo with me, so I took 8 strands of wire, twisted them in pairs then took the 4 twisted wires and twisted them all together the opposite way. Made a neat little chain link, awesome flavor.... but only a little better than a regular 26 or 24 gauge coil.

I'm actually really excited to try this one. I prefer working with the 26g, and that's a lot of surface area. Should produce a lot of flavor. You'd think it wouldn't fit in that little atty... lol.

Whoa. That is impressive. Way beyond my skills. When I do parallel, I have to do it slowly...lol. I've only been rebuilding for about a couple of months now.

I had a good chunk of this weekend with time to burn sitting in my shop, so I tinkered. Honestly it could be much better; the mounting bit still gets me. The twisted stuff is way easier than it looks though, especially if you have a drill and clamps/vise grips available. I don't think it's worth the time to do it every day, but it's nice to know I can still vape my Derringer at the ohms I like when I'm out of lower gauge wire.

I'd say no. There isn't a huge difference in flavor or vapor.

Harbor freight has some pretty cheap drills ($20) if you're just using it for coil building. They also have safety wire pliers for about $10 that will do twisted wire only, but come in handy for many different applications when building since it has a cutter and locking feature. I use them for all twisted builds, and parallel builds to keep a good grip on the starting leg for even wraps.
