Recently on one of my Grands I somehow stripped the threaded hole for the delrin insert due to aluminum being so soft. I have not figured out a fix for my issue as of yet, however I came up with a fairly simple, production cost effective solution.
Instead of threading into the aluminum, a threaded insert could be placed in the wall of the unit. Since the wall thickness is fairly thin it would likely show on the outside. A simple but marketing effective fix for this would be a thin gauge "Reo mods" placard. So the insert could have a small TIG fixing it in place or hell some JB weld. The converting placard could be riveted through the grand wall.
Thoughts?
