Did I get ripped off?

Updated and thanks for the tip.

I called Smoking-everywhere and they refuse to cancel my order. At first, she told me that once it is processed, the order cannot be altered, including cancellation.

Then after I lied and told her that I wished I could change my order to add things, she then put me on hold, came back and told me that my order wasn't shipped and therefore I could add anything I liked to the order. I told her I wanted to remove the extra cartridges and possibly add another starter kit. After a second of hearing her type, she then asks which starter set I wanted to add ... I told her that my wife just decided she didn't want one until she tried mine to see if she liked it and the lady on the phone got rude. She then tells me that they cannot remove the two extra cartridge packs unless I added more to the order ...

After a back and forth conversation, she then tells me that they cannot remove anything from my order because after orders have been processed they cannot be changed !!! She flip-flopped like a politician.

Obviously, they could and would change my order if it would increase the money they made off of me ... but the instant they wouldn't make more money, they had a zero-changes policy. I can't say that I am surprised. Lesson learned ...

I keep reading so many different opinions on ordering directly from China, it is starting to get confusing to me. I understand that virtually all these products originate from there, so why do so many people think it is a bad idea to order directly? Do the U.S. companies that re-sell these products do a quality check to assure that you receive a good working product every time or something? I can understand the differences in opinions on many things, but that one just doesn't click for me ...

I think it just boils down to personal preference. Some people like buying from China because the prices are lower, and you can usually get nice discounts on bulk purchases (25 atty's, 25 batteries, etc).

I went with a US company for my first purchases and it's turned out to be a good thing, I already had a couple of atomizers that were bad (out of the box), and had to return them. They cross shipped me new ones, so I only had to wait 3 days for shipment time.

If shipping times not a big deal, I don't see any issues buying direct from China, many can vouch for their service and shipping times.

Also some folks are getting paranoid about customs holding their shipments from China, but I think that's mainly happenning to companies ordering several thousand dollars worth of supplies.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer your question, did you get ripped off? After reading your post just above mine, yeah, I'd say so. Any good company will let you cancel an order if it hasn't shipped, and also take back any un-opened, un-used equipment for a refund. Maybe I'm just too service oriented, but that's B.S.

I've heard about the shipment being 'blocked' at the port, but was also of the understanding that was based on a massive order.

I'll look into China for my purchases so that I can buy in bulk and save that much more (after I test the thing out and see if I'm a fan or not). If it gets blocked/stopped/confiscated/whatever ... I would assume that my money would be returned to me. *shrug*

As far as smoking-everywhere goes, I no longer have any doubts about the type of company they are. I almost wish I had recorded that conversation so that I could place it here for everyone to listen to: it was hilarious in it's absurdity.

Don't worry, even a somewhat large individual order is unlikely to be noticed in any fashion. My biggest order was almost 1 liter of juice, 5 kits, 25 attys, and 10 batts................went right through customs without a hiccup.

Hi Eli. Good to see another rocky mountain vaper.

I figured I would save quite a bit less than that, but my figures were based on buying the expensive cartridges from smoking-everywhere ... and each cartridge would be equal to a full pack. Marketing at it's worst, eh?

It gets a lot more affordable if you plan on using juice. It's so darn cheap comparatively. I probably will have to readjust my estimate because I'll probably end up using more juice than I planned, but it still beats my $7 a pack clove habit. :)

The way I see it, I'm planning on stocking up as much as I can before the senate passes the 'Family Smoking Prevention And Tobacco Control Act' ... which I have no doubt it will be passed as it is being pushed by numerous democrats (filabuster proof majority) and being backed by Altria (parent company of Phillip Morris). That makes me think that the FDA, as soon as it passes, will move against e-cigs at an alarming rate. I want to be prepared. ;)

Actually, it was signed into law on June 22nd. That's why I'm going to vaping. I smoke cloves exclusively and I don't want to go back to Marlboro lights. There were 70 republicans in the house who voted for it and 23 in the senate (if I counted correctly). Not sure how this will effect vaping, but I'm sure it won't be good.

Actually, I'm only here temporarily. My wife is an Army Of One (Army) and we are based at Ft. Carson. It is so beautiful here though, especially the evenings ...

Yeah, it seems like using the juices is the only real way to go. I'm a two pack a day smoker (sometimes nearing three), so I have no doubt I'll go through juice like water. I do, however, know that it will save us a small fortune, which truthfully is only a small portion of the appeal (I'm not a huge fan of dying of cancer).

Ouch. My research fell on it's face on that one as I thought it went in front of the senate September the 22nd. I'm not sure where I got that date ... but thats what I was thinking. *shrug*

All the more reason to hurry and get a 'stock' built up. =P

Maybe that's when it goes into effect? I know it's Septemberish, but I didn't really pay attention because the owner of the cigar shop I frequent said that his distributer would be out of Blacks by mid August.

Well, enjoy your temporary stay in Colorado. If you haven't yet, you really should make it a point to check out some of the local sights, especially Garden of the Gods. It's amazing.

Oh, and try to catch a concert at Red Rocks if you have the chance. It's kind of a trek from the Springs, but the venue is one of a kind.

I stood on the stage at Red Rocks one Sunday afternoon.
And I pretended I was John Tesh in concert.

Yeah, I said that, and yeah, I know.
What do you want from me?

Edit: The best concert I ever saw, by far, was Moody Blues at Hollywood Bowl.
Edit: And I mean better than Billy Joel or Judas Priest, or even Metallica at the Rose Bowl.

Edit: I will NOT be pigeonholed.
Edit:

Garden of the Gods: check. It was pretty awesome.
Pike's Peak: check. I couldn't breathe up there, lol.
Shotgun Willies: check. I couldn't breathe there either! ;)

I haven't even heard of Red Rocks, so I'll have to do my homework on that one. Definitely sounds worthwhile.

Oh, and to make this post at least appear to be on-topic: Smoking-everywhere are scam artists!
