Hello everyone, My name is Dave and im fairly new to the e-cig scene. I started out a year ago on the disposable e-cigs you can get from liquor and convenience sores. After trying a few I started looking online for more information and found a vaping blog. I ended up going with a V2 starter kit. I have one manual and one automatic battery. I like how easy the V2 is to use with the cartomizers but was disappointed with the lack of vapor i was getting from each drag. So today I went to a local smoke shop and bought an eGo-V V3 mega battery. the battery is still charging right now and after looking at it im pretty sure its not what the box says it is. Instead of an eGo logo on the battery in orange and green lettering next to the digital display on the battery it says "Kingfish". Ive been looking around on line and can seem to find this battery. It looks exactly like the eGo-V V3 but it doesn't say eGo anywhere on it. Did I get ripped off?

Hi and Welcome to ECF :)

Kingfish is a chinese manufacturer of eGo style batteries, if it was sold to you as joyetech, then it was certainly less than honest. If it was sold as an ego style V3 then you got precisely that. As long as they didnt charge an arm and a leg as it should've been fairly inexpensive- all that really matters is that it all works properly. Should've been in the ballpark of 30-40 bucks and it should serve you well.

I'm not familiar with many of the eGo variations, as I went straight to a VV/VW Mod after my Halo Triton, but spending an extra $10-$20 at a shop is pretty much normal from my experience. However I would recommend you come back here to ECF and ask for advice when you decide to upgrade from the V3, as you will get a lot of good suggestions.

Yeah, I was thinking that as I walked in to the store. I just didnt want to use the V2 for another day so I went for it... But I am definitely coming here as soon as I am ready for an upgrade. I was looking at a "show your piece" thread and there sre some great custom pieces out there.

Ripped Off is a Very Relative term.

If you buy and e-Cigarette and it Works, and keeps you from Smoking or Helps you Switch, I'm not sure it can be Called a Rip Off even if you might have been able to buy it for Less.

I kinda Smile when I hear people Talking about Money they Spent on e-Cigarettes. Are they Spending More than when they Smoked? Do they Feel Worse than when they Smoked?

When I Switched, I didn't Care if e-Cigarettes Cost Twice as Much as Analogs, if they Made me Feel Better.

Because Analogs were Slowly Killing me.

So true, Zoid! How much for a bottle of O2 when you get COPD? Chemo isn't free, either.

And then, a lot depends on where you live. My first setup cost less than a carton of smokes, no complaints. And lasted a lot longer!

Now, I do understand not wanting to spend hundreds to get started with something that you may decide isn't for you. But you do need to give yourself a fighting chance and have sufficient hardware that your backup isn't a pack :)

Yep.

My first e-Cigarettes was a Vastly Overpriced Kit. The e-Liquids that came with it were Complete Garbage compared to what is Available today.

But it got me Going. And it let me know that e-Cigarettes had the Potential to help me Quit Analogs.

It also was Cheaper than a Months worth of Analogs. So After a Month of Using it, I had No Qualms about getting a Better e-Cigarette. Because I was Saving Money.

And starting to Better at the Same Time.

There fixed that for ya Zoi.

Just so the OP knows, there are Ego's, EGO's, ego's, and then there is the "eGo" which is the © name for the JoyeTech eGo.

The problem with "knockoff" ego's (like the one that you bought) is your guess is as good as mine about the quality of the battery cell they chose to put in it. One thing you can count on with most knockoffs, they did not go looking for the most expensive or best quality materials. They could have used salvaged battery cells for all we know.

So IMO, IF you were looking to buy an eGo, YES you did get ripped off!

Poor quality ego knockoffs have become such a problem that I can't recommend ego's at all anymore.

If you buy something at Market Price and it Doesn't Work, well, Stuff Happens. Things aren't Made like they Used to be.

But I agree, if you pay Way More than Market Price and it Doesn't Work or Melts Down, then Ya, you got Ripped Off.

Your question has already been answered but I just wanted to welcome you to ecf. It is just a wonderful place to be. Can't tell ya how many times these wonderful people have helped me. Good luck to you and hope read about your future purchases and continued vaping success. :)

Thank you for the welcome! Its great that there are so many friendly, helpful folks here. Im glad I found this community!!

Another welcome, and congrats on a good choice to switch!

Yep, sometimes the "instant" is worth a few extra $$. And sometimes (when they're not too far out of line!) it's also worth supporting your local economy.

    Welcome to the club!

    thank you!!
