Okay, my wife and I have decided to start vaping. We are very strongly hoping this leads, very quickly, to stopping smoking. I've been all over this forum as well as many others and countless suppliers' websites and many youtube reviewers' pages. I have probably done 30 hours or research in the past week! Mostly because I'm a gadget fiend and this is how I operate when making a purchase, but also because I want to get this right.

I decided upon a device/supplier combo to begin with because I wanted everything to come at the same time. I'll be very willing to branch out in the future to get what I need or if this supplier disappoints me, but I believe I've chosen well based on the reviews available here and elsewhere. To start, I just wanted good, reliable hardware that would make it easy on us. I didn't want to worry about lackluster performance from the cheap-o products or fiddly stuff like VV, although I certainly may end up there.

I am getting (both of us) KGo kits that come with 2 batteries, 5 empty cartos, 2 cones, drip tip, charger. I'm taking advantage of a deal with each kit to get some Boge 2.0 Cartos and Smoktech 1.7 Cartos based off of the two main suggestions I've found for use with this battery kit. I also threw in a 306 Atty for dripping because I put together 3 sampler packs (each has 3 [5mg] bottles). I plan on dripping the different juices for my wife and I to try before we commit to filling a carto with it. I know the samples won't get us too far when we decide on a juice, so I definitely plan to order an "all-day" juice for each of us in a larger amount once we work that out.

With all my work (okay, it's kinda fun), I think I've covered it....but I'm new at this! Is there something I missed? Also, as a side note: if you smoked menthol analogs, do you find that menthol is "necessary" in your juice? I know many vapers move away from tobacco flavors altogether, but I get kinda itcy thinking about inhaling something non-menthol, haha.

Thanks for having me!

Well first of all, welcome to ECF!

Let's see, good device..check! Extra batteries..check! Cartos that work great on said device..check! An atomizer for testing flavors..check! Liquid..check! Seems you have your ducks in a row. That is a great place to start, nearest I can tell. Depending on how fast you will go through cartos and liquid, you may want to order some more soon to ensure you will not run out of either. Nothing worse then realizing you are stuck without for a day or two, unless you have a decent vendor near you.

As far as the menthol goes..you may want to start with some of that to maybe take care of those extra cravings you get, but hardly necessary. I couldn't stand menthol ciggies, but do enjoy a menthol vape here and there!

Yeah, I figured we'd get a quick handle on what our preferences were and order some more liquid/cartos as soon as we knew what we needed. I hope to use the Smoktech/Boge cartos and save the stock ones as an emergency backup. If all else fails, multiple places carry at least the Njoy stuff. I've been trying it out and already harshly cut back my cigarette smoking.

I've been trying to find a vendor nearby, but haven't come up with anything as of yet. I'm just North of Miami and I've found a proprietary vendor in Miami and the corporate HQ -slash- supposed brick and mortar of what is apparently a pretty shady business operator. Apparently, this company has numerous bad quality webfronts and the local place is never open during the posted business hours. I've heard about a shop or two in Orlando, but that's quite a bit of a drive.

Welcome to ECF, & Congratulations on your decision to switch! Looks like you've done your homework & got nice setups on their way to you. The dripping atomizer is a great idea for testing juices. You didn't say what resistance atomizer(s) you have coming; in order to be most useful they need to be as close as possible to the resistance of the cartos you'll be using. Also, be aware the 306 atty requires a different drip tip than a 510. Although the threading is the same & the 306 should work beautifully on a 510 connection, its drip tip will fit outside its body. (I prefer the 306 design, or IkenVape's io6 when available, to the 510. Best way I've found to tell how a juice is supposed to taste.)

Best of luck & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

If you ordered the kit from DCV, you should just save those cartos for an extremely rainy day..Nothing against him, but those are basically overstock cartos from a year ago or so and don't hold up well from what I have heard. They come with the kits, ordered from China and are probably just left in there.

As far as a B&M, the only ones I have heard of in Miami is VirtuSmoke and Smoke*insert number here*. Otherwise I thought there was one in Ft. Lauderdale and a couple in Dania Beach..But don't remember right off hand.

I did not realize the drip tip issue, but I lucked out and this one comes with a generic tip. It is a 1.7, so that should match up with the Smoktechs. The stock cartos don't have the resistance listed, so I'm not sure there, but I wasn't planning on using them unless necessary, anyway.

Thanks for everything so far. Great to have this help and support.

Yeah, that's where I'm getting it from. Didn't mention because I didn't want to come across as a shill. Noted advice on the cartos.

I found VaporShark in Miami, which is just another branded KR8 looking thing. I didn't look to see if if it actually is KR8, and nothing against them, just not what I wanted. I'm going to keep looking, as the scam my place is the only other thing I've found.

Kinda funny. My wife quit smoking a few days before I started using my first PV. A few days later, seeing how I wasn't nearly as on edge as her, she asked me to give her a cig, instead I convinced her to try it herself. She was quite happy. A few days later she asked if I had one she could use. I had already ordered some tobacco juices, and some fruity and bakery ones, and she insisted on them tasting like a cigarette. She didn't want to enjoy it. She is not a heavy vaper at all, and just a few weeks ago she started asking for good tasting juice. I guess once she figured out that she isn't going to go all vape-crazy just because it tastes good she was open to nice flavors. Plus, the fact that I have stopped eating so many sweets due to my sweet-tooth being satisfied by my juices probably helped!

If I could cut out some sweets as well as the smoking, my body wouldn't know what to do. That sounds like a great possible side effect.

I think my wife is just worried that she won't feel like her smoking is replaced if she doesn't vape tobacco juices. I'm sure she'll be open to some tasty juice once we've distance ourselves from the idea of vaping as a cigarette replacement. Right now we have no plans to completely forsake nicotine, just the nasty add-ins you get.

You should be good on the atty/drip tip then. One word of caution: I don't know what brand it is but many atomizers come from the factory with a primer liquid in them... either a mixture of PG/VG or maybe some kind of machine oil. Whatever it is, it's right nasty so you'll want to blow it out well. There are a few different approaches to getting rid of this stuff & there's not much to it, but you don't want to vape it simply because it tastes vile. One trick is, after blowing it out you can drip a few drops of PG/VG (either or both mixed, without nic or flavor) & puff it without inhaling it. Another is rinse it with hot water a few times, blowing it out each time. Of course a final rinse with grain alcohol or vodka & final blowing will work wonders & dry it quickly as well.

Some of the better brands (IkenVape & Cisco that I know of) ship without this stuff but AFAIK most seem to come with it. The Web site may mention this, and any other "care & feeding" information specific to the line of attys they carry. Hope this helps! :D

Manufacturer is listed as Bauway. I'll just play it safe and plan to rinse it out like you said. I don't want to start off with a nasty taste. You've absolutely been helpful, thank you!

Everyone has been so quick to welcome and help....thanks a ton. I'll check back later for any more tips, I'm already up past my work-in-the-morning bedtime.
