did my atomizer die?

Atties have a pretty variable life span, as I understand it. Depends mainly on voltage (standard 3.7 lets em last longer, but a lot of people swear by higher voltage for a better hit).

A truly electrically-dead atty will not get hot, and cannot be saved, as far as I know. A merely clogged one, on the other hand, might be saved by a cleaning. If you can test em with a multimeter, that would be ideal - but the heat=still possibly alive principle should be an adequate substitute for most purposes.

i blew it all out and let it it stand upside down all night. still nothing. RIP 510 atomizer. jeesh this could be an expensive habit if all of these things only last 4-5 days.

Buy a KR808d31 "Cartomizer" eCig with extra cartridges for your "just-in-case" back-up. A five pack of Cartos average around $8 dollars for five cartridges.

I wouldn't give up on it quite yet. First you should make sure your battery is fully charged. No matter what shape your atty is in, if the battery isn't charged it's still not going to work. Hopefully you have more than one atty and battery, check them all paired up in different ways. Does atty A work on battery A but not on Battery B? Does atty B work on Battery A but not Battery B? Like that. So now, you have identified a battery that is really working good, does that atty still not work? There is a "sweet spot" with attys that is somewhere between too dry and too wet. If you are dripping 2-3 drops on your bridge you have to make sure that you are giving enough time in between drops for them to absorb, otherwise the next drop or two will just roll down and flood your atty. Blow out your atty hard by blowing into the threaded end and holding a paper towel lightly against the other end to catch what comes out. If there is an air hole, don't cover it up. Blow 2-3 times until no juice comes out. Now, try just placing ONE drop on the wick/bridge, attach your mouthpiece with moist (not WET) cart filler in it and give short little puffs. Do you have vapor? If not, add another drop the to wick/bridge and try again. If you still don't have anything then you can try cleaning it. I use Crest ProHealth Mouthwash, look up how to do it here on the forum. I hope this helps you bring your atty back to life or figure out what the problem is. Good luck!

i think she's a goner. It doesn't do anything. doesn't even make a noise when its connected. and yea, the batteries fine. I've blown it out a ton of times. I may try cleaning it, but may also just take the loss. i blew out a new atty, and am now in the process of getting all the primer off( YUCK!) it's not hitting very well at all, so i'm hoping this is one of those attys that need some time to get going, as the last one seemed to SMACK right from the get go.

Is dripping bad for the atomizer? I blew out the bad one a few times, and there seems to still be liquid coming out of it. But if it was flooded it would still try to vape right? This one doesn't even try to do anything.

Once I thought an atty was totally gone, but when I soaked it with vodka I resurrected it. Thing is, the juice just gunks up inside after a while and just blowing it out isn't enough. The alcohol removes the built-up liquid that clogs it up. And yes, I do think dripping will cause the build-up to happen more quickly than using a cart. Of course, if it's burnt out, there's nothing you can do to save it.

When you are dripping, you take the chances that you'll mis-read the flavor and get some dry hits and stressing the atty coil/wire. Also when dripping, putting cool liquid on a hot atomizer wire also can stress it (atty wire can get super hot, and you are dripping cool liquid on it). The thermal shock can break the thin little nichrome wire heating element. My tip is to blow a little cool air into the atty to help cool it before you drip.

I'm too impatient to let mine cool... so I don't ever drip (except when topping off my 510, I always add one drop on the atty bridge to make sure that it is wet).

For those reasons, I use AquaClear foam and never drip. My 510 atts run for 4 months or more (some I've had 6 plus). Not much cleaning or fiddling with them either.

Just depends on what you want (carts/no carts) and how much you are willing to spend to drip. ;)

yea, i'm thinking i fried it, i was dripping all day yesterday and probably hitting it more then i should before dripping again. the last hit it produced tasted BAD. Like fire. lol. I ordered some blue foam, so i will be using my carts from now on when it gets here. I was just getting annoyed with wasting liquid refilling the carts, since it seemed most of it would goto the bottom of the filler and give me dry hits.

I just found this thread due to a 801 HV atty seeming dieing. Being a "newbie" and getting my first mod today, I kept adding drops of juice to the 801, counted 40 drops from plastic e-juice bottle. I had read how to look for "pooling", but the foam seemed to keep sucking it up, and with a light behind the white plastic part, it looked like it kept filling up. Guess I was wrong, as it worked at first and stopped totally. With all the other tests and cartos, I have, I hear a sound when I press the button, but with this HV atty, NO sound anymore. I used compress air to blow it out, let it air dry for an hour. Batteries are good, I've got a bunch. Went back to a carto, unit works fine. Went to a 901 HV, works fine. This is all being done on my few hour old GGTS mod at 6 volt using the only two HV attys I have for now, and one seems dead. After the air blowing, I assume the only other thing I can try, is soaking in vodka, correct? I assume I flooded this 801 atty, as I know longer get any reaction from it. Thanks for any help, I'm at the beginning of the learning curve, but dived in with an expensive mod, but I'm not too stupid to figure things out, read all I could so far, watched the videos etc. but there is NO substitute for "experience", which I do not have just yet.

I can sell you some of mine.

I bought 30 510 atomizers while stocking up in case of a ban.
I thought that might be a two or three year supply.

Unfortunately, I am now seven months in and haven't lost either one of my starters yet.
I rotate two of them, and still use the same two.
Someday I'm sure I'll lose one.

But in the meantime, it appears I might actually have a 10 year supply.
So I got some I can spare.
:D

That is the problem with the stock filler material...it holds on to juice too well. Many use the blue foam. I use the ZFM auto-drip mod, and get 50+ hits from a cart before needing a refill, and the attys are clearly lasting a lot longer. I don't drip manually, but the cart acts like it does, little by little. Blue foam does a similar thing. Both wick to the bridge far better than the stock poly filler (fluval).

Always good to have extra attys and batts. And yes, it does sound like you dripped it too aggressively and killed the coil. Don't beat yourself up...us 510 users tend to go through a handful of attys in the beginning as we learn the ropes, which can be rather unforgiving sometimes. DIY juice is too thick, attys get too hot, leaks, and that awful starved atty burned taste. Get some extras, mod the cart to better behave, and you'll be in good shape. Good luck!

Sorry, I was mostly kidding.

If a ban comes down, I want all them atomizers.
I will be vaping until at least 2030 no matter what them bastages do!

Just need to learn how to make my own juice with snus if it comes to that.

i can't see them banning thee in the states, they already ruled that the FDA has no right to regulate them, didn't they???? I can't smoke weed anymore, refuse to smoke cigarettes, hardly drink, they can't take away the only thing i have left :(
No, the judge in this case ruled that the FDA can no longer confiscate shipments of NJoy or Smoking Everywhere products during the remaining course of the trial. That judgement does not apply, at this time, to any other people who import electronic cigarette products.

And the FDA is of course appealing so we will see how that goes.

The road is long and winding, and it may take some disturbing turns.
We still need to be ever-vigilant and do whatever we can to make our voices heard.
