Did roll-your-own cigarettes make the switch to vaping *easier*??

Over my 7 months or so of hanging out here, I've occasionally seen people mention roll-your-own cigarettes, and that without all the "extra" stuff from the tobacco companies, it was easier to switch to the vape.

That happens to reflect my own experience - in fact, I had no intention of quitting, and about 10 days in, I realized my cigarette consumption had fallen to 1/2 of a .... one day.

With that realization, I was done, and onto my new identity as an ex-smoker :2cool:

What do yawl think: roll-your-own smokers find it easier to switch??

I'd say the contrary: I always found my own rolled cigarettes to be easier on my lungs and throat than ready-made ones. And since they were a lot cheaper to boot, I'd say that's two reasons NOT to start vaping.

Expensive, hurtful cigarettes are the ones that get people to want to stop smoking and/or start vaping.

For me, Yes RYO played a part. I had never been able to even come close to quitting before. My best attempt was met by aggravation and aggression over several months while on the strongest Patch. Even that did little to curb any desires and I was making life for the family miserable.
Switched to RYO for 2 reasons. Cost and Health concerns. Reduced consumption by 1/2 to 1pad without trying.
Decided I would try one more time to find a solution that would work and stop all together.

One of the many options was Vaping. Until that moment, I had never heard of it or even noticed a Disposable in a store/gas station. To this day, I have never purchased a Disposable.
I pieced together 510 pin style kits and switched over cold turkey. 2 weeks of tweaking and frustration later I was on to Ego's/clearos and a Much more fulfilling Vape.

That was almost 2 years ago :D

RYO was something I considered before starting to vape. I realized that I was going to end up being too lazy to roll up a pack when I needed it and would soon go back to the usual Marlboro lights.

Sometimes I feel too lazy to refill a tank or replace a coil but I'm way too lazy to go out and buy a pack so vaping is now the lesser of the evils. Oh yeah, and then there's the stink.

I'll just keep vaping!

I switched to RYO years ago due to finances and stayed on them once finaces got better because the already manufactured cigs just made me feel like yuck. The day I got my first vape kit was the day I knew I would never need another RYO. I did have a few cravings for the RYO but I know it would have been worse had I been using manufactured cigs.
