After 7 or 8 failed attempts, I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd probably die of some smoking related disease. I had no real intention of quitting when I bought my vape. On day one of vaping, I smoked four and a half analogs. On day two I smoked seven; three or four of which I smoked while waiting for batteries to charge. On day three, I had no analogs. Today is day four. I haven't had any analogs and don't see myself going back.

I ordered a 510 kit because the idea of ecigs looked cool and exciting. I had no intention to quit (tried seven months ago and swore I'd never try it again). Half a pack of cigarettes I had when I got my mail order lasted for four days. Now after a month I'm getting used to the fact that I don't smoke anymore but at the beginning it was very bewildering.

For me Vaping was an alternative and I had no real intention on giving up my tobacco. But I was really surprised just how much vaping cut my smoking tobacco. Once I found what straight nicotine I needed to reach my saturation point I was able to just give up the cigarette altogether. Besides, where are you going to get a cigarette that tastes like Apple Pie ?

I had no plans OR desire to quit - ALL I wanted from the PV was an alternative to smoking most of the cigs. I was happy to keep a few, I liked smoking, I just smoked too many out of habit.
Imagine my surprise then when 10 days after I started vaping I stopped smoking entirely lol. Id been reducing it daily, on purpose, until I was down to 2 for a couple of days, and then I sort of said to myself 'why bother'?
Figured Id try without the 2 and see how it went. I didn't throw out my remaining pack or lighters, in fact I still have them.
:)

I have gone through the gamut looking for the ulimate "smoke alternative" and finally found it. It is a VYPR with a DSE801 atty and all I can say is that it is killer. I tried some of the pen style, etc. and there is no comparison. The forum is a great place for info and I saved alot of money just reading and listening.

Juice at 36mg, any flavor, seems to do the job an d I have no craving for analogs. 8 weeks without one and I am done with the 45 years of sucking the FDA approved analogs.

It is so ironic, since I grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, and put myself through college working in the cigarette factories during the summers.

I think that finding the right ecig setup is so important. Failures of the products tend to lead to failures of the user. I almost went back based on some of my first experiences and am so glad that I finally found the right ecig setup.

Yes, I thought I would quit, but I was hoping that it would be through my own efforts and not from a heart attack or stroke. In fact, I bought only two packs of cigarettes at a time for a couple of years. I kept telling myself, next week I'll quit, not this week. Then, I started buying four packs at a time on weekends because the smoke shop was closed on Sundays, and besides that, I bought a case of beer every weekend, and I don't drink and drive.

Then I found ECF. I had a couple of setbacks, but that's another story. July 4th was my 3-month smoke-free marker. I had to give up all my beer to do it, but that was the easy part.

I did the same thing since about 2005. I figured the more expensive and inconvenient it was, the more I'd be inclined to quit.

I had to give up all my beer to do it, but that was the easy part.

I couldn't do it. I'm not a big drinker or anything, but when I'm out socially I have to have at least a few.

I actually gave up trying to quit cigs. I heard about e-cigs from our favorite bartender and found this site. What a life saver! I've been vaping now for about 2 months and have cut the cigs to just a few a day. They really do taste VILE!

I figured out the reason they taste like poop! It's those 1,000's of nasty chemicals that don't exist in e-juice! That's why vaping tastes so GOOD! It's actually PURE FLAVOR with however much nicotine we need. It's not the nicotine that will kill us, but the nasty CHEMICALS!! I actually feel sick now after a cigarette. I know now that, by the end of my LAST carton, I will be FREE OF TOBACCO!

PV's are the BEST THING EVER INVENTED! (My husband never wanted to quit but likes the taste of vaping much better than real cigs! What a bonus!)

I went into the vaping scene with full intentions of quitting analogues. While the area where I live is by no means a high tax state (compared to NY), cigarettes were getting too expensive for a college student who has books to buy and tuition to be paid. I went from a pack a day to none in one day! I started with 36mg and now I am at 24mg. My next step is to be at 18mg eliquid.

My plan from the beginning was to quit smoking the moment I started vaping.

It's been over 2 weeks since I started vaping and I haven't took even 1 drag of an analog. I started with 18mg. The first 4 or 5 days was a little hard and took some will power but now it all seems good.

Now when I am around someone who is smoking it smells really bad.

I passed 90 days and no one is more shocked than me - well, maybe the people who I work with are more surprised - they never saw me without a .... in my face.

I smoked a cigarette about a week ago to see what they tasted like after vaping for 90 days. I was shocked at how really bad, and I mean God awful, it tasted. It was like I could taste all those chemicals and tars - it was an eye opener. I took about three drags and that was all I could take. I know that smoking was something I had to force myself to do when I was a kid, but I had no idea how nasty those things really tasted to a non-smoker (like I am now). It's hard to believe that I inhaled those things for over 40 years and liked it. Unbelievable. I can't go back to that - and that's for sure. So I'm screwed. It's either vaping or nothing. But that's not a bad place to be. I never intended to vape forever. The idea was to quit smoking. I did that. Now I've got to lose the crutch.

And to answer the question, no I did not think I would ever quit.
In fact, I had every intention of never quitting.

I even told people who hassled me to give it up, I wasn't planning on ever quitting.

I only smoked around 3-10 cigarettes per day.
I felt that I was not in as much danger of dying from smoking as most.

That was how I justified doing this for over 27 years.
But I quit smoking with no problem using electronic cigarettes.

And even though I didn't smoke much, I have seen a lot of health benefits...
--I can exercise, or even take a shower, without gasping for breath
--I can hold my breath for about 60% longer than I could a year ago
--I no longer cough up lung nuggets every morning
--I no longer wheeze while laying in bed at night

I can't even imagine what health benefits the "serious" smokers are getting.
But it sure must be nice.
:)

I absolutely HAD to quit. I really did not think I would live another 2 years. My hacking and coughing, hard breathing, wheezing, etc. were that bad. 57yo. nearly 2PAD smoker for 39 years. I tried everything stop smoking device, system and therapy available except acupuncture and still couldn't quit. I googled e-cigarettes after a friend told me about them. She still smokes analogs, btw. I'm the kinda guy who always looks for a forum on the internet, so I googled e-cig forum and found out after many exhausting days & nights of research that what I wanted was a 510. Ordered my kit, 2 weeks l8r, it finally arrived (USPS stole my 1st kit) and I had 3 analogs left from a pack. Those analogs were gone that day and I've been vaping ever since. That day was 7/14/2010.

I was counting on e-cigs to be my NRT, It HAD to work, or I was just going to give up and die soon. The 510 saved my life, now the eGo is keeping me alive and kicking. I recently sent my 510 to my sister who still smokes. I'm hoping she will quit too. If not, then the 510 goes to anyone else in my family who smokes (there's 4), starting with the oldest first.

I saw an ad for e-cig on a website over a year prior. Wondered what the heck was that? looked like a gimmick to me.
Much later heard those radio ads. thought about checking into it but was leery of it being a scam.
Then on another forum I frequent daily, a member posted about cutting down his smoking using e-cigs and getting close to quitting.
I really hadn't thought about quitting but thought I would give it a try. Realized later that I was in denial, had given up on the thought of quitting even though I knew how bad it was.

Was living my life ignoring the facts. But I was very tired of how it was affecting my life.
Having to hide it at home because I didn't want my little girl to see me smoking. The smell, finding excuses to step away to have a smoke. planning your schedule around smoke breaks, getting worried when your supply runs low.... all you subject yourself to and have to concede to because this habit has over taken your life.

After reading about e-cigs on that forum, I spent a week researching and said this is it, lets do this thing. Scraped up the cash, got a kit, and haven't looked back. Had myself all ready and inspired to go through with it. I work graveyard shift, I knew the kit would arrive that day while I was sleeping. I had that last smoke on the car ride home, then went to sleep looking forward to waking up to a completely new situation, and thank God that is the way it has been since.
