For twelve years I nursed a pack a day habit. I started vaping on 19 September 2013. That day I threw out half a pack of cigarettes because vaping satisfied my cravings in every way, and then some. I vape 18mg, but I'm thinking of slowly tapering down to 12mg or 6 mg to make chain vaping a little more comfortable.
I will be a lifetime vaper. I have no guilt about being addicted to nicotine because compared to smoking cigarettes, vaping is essentially consequence free, aside from the (significantly less) amount of money I spend on it. And I'm proud to spend money on a hobby I enjoy.
What's more, vaping has brought the pleasure back into the activity because I can enjoy it wherever courtesy will allow. Most of the bars I go to welcome vaping, and most of my friends think its great too.
Cigarettes disgust me now. But I am careful to not rub vaping in the faces of friends and acquaintances who still smoke. If they ask me a question about it I answer directly, without judgement. But more often than not, they end up asking me where they can purchase a vaporizer and start their own journey back to health.
Vaping has given the most liberating and life affirming experience I have had in a long time. I am very happy.
