I made a small "oups". In my tackle box, I have a handful of flanged tank cartos, same resistance. Some are dual coil, some a single coil. I know which ones I like, and want to order some more. Is there a way to tell which ones are which, without gutting them?

Thank you for any suggestions. Laughs are welcome :)

I did the same thing, without even thinking.

I do have a new shipment that I haven't "organized" yet. I know which of the new ones are single coil and which are dual. I took both and looked side by side at the inside. The only difference I can see is that the air tube part seems to be slightly larger in the dual coil. Other than that, I see no difference at all. Although, not another visual way, the only other way to tell the difference is battery life. I have read that dual coil drains your battery faster.

I'm sorry your question went unanswered for such a long time. I was waiting for an answer also, while I was thinking on how to figure this out.

Hope it helps. :)

Sorry, can't help you out with that. :( I don't remember reading how much shorter the battery life would be, or the amount of current difference there is, just that battery life would be shorter.

I would think it would take you less time to just look at the inside. Just take off the mouthpiece and look at the air tube. Even if you have several, that wouldn't take as long as it would take to drain a battery. But if you have a meter (which I don't) then maybe that would be faster. If you use it a specific amount of time then measure it, then you wouldn't have to actually drain a battery.

Ah, thank you! Didn't think about battery life. I may be able to measure current too.

So, with two 1.7 ohm cartos, same battery, the dual coil will draw twice the current, right?

same ohms + same voltage = same current. The difference will be the taste. Crank up the single coil, and it will taste burnt quicker. 6 to 8 watts on single coil is the normal sweet spot. 3.7 volts is about 8 watts on a 1.7 ohm load. so if its all in one coil, that will be about a normal vape. The same on dual coil will be very weak. 3 to 4 watts on each coil of a dual wont make much vapor at all...
