Difference between subtank and protank?

Hi all, very new to vaping. As I've been reading I see a lot of recommendations for the subtank? I am using an MVP 20w and the protank 3. This gives me very nice mouth to lung hits (as if I were smoking) but I doubt I could blow billowing clouds with it. What is the difference with a subtank? Thank you.

The subtank really isn't designed for mouth to lung style vaping. It is really made for direct lung hits and provides good flavor and clouds (if clouds are what you are looking for). I use mine primarily for the flavor. I use the premounted coil on the RBA unit and just have to change the cotton wick every few days. I don't think the MVP 20w would work with the .5 ohm coils that come with it because the MVP 20 only supports down to 1 ohm. You could use the 1.2 ohm pre-built coils it supports, though. I only run mine up to about 16 watts and that suits me fine. Others like to run it up to 25 watts but the sweet spot on the 1.2 for both flavor and clouds will probably be around 20 watts.

With the subtank you can use RBA heads which are designed so that you can rebuild them.

Yes it comes with 2 types of coils;

the RBA coil looks like this:

The other coil in the top picture is the regular clearomiszer disposable type coil, which people seem to like rebuilding for some reason; one advantage to it is it is smaller, so I guess the tank can hold more when you use it.

If you mean the RBA head looks complicated, then you can just get the regular heads;
then later on if you decide to rebuild heads you have the option to rebuild the regular heads, or get the rba heads which should be easier to rebuild, instead of having to buy a whole new system.

I've got the Nano, it doesn't come with the RBA, but you can easily rebuild the "disposable" ones. If you're new to building coils, it just takes a couple youtube video how-to's and you're on your way. It is however easier to learn on a larger atomizer, but not that much of a jump to doing the OCC rebuilds.

Haha, I don't understand what you're saying so I will have to watch some videos to see what you mean. Thank you.

The subtank is a great little device I use it as my go to device for work or driving, the flavor and vapor production is nice depending on you juice. I would not recommend this if you don't like lung hits, the rba that comes with this is top notch tho I give it 5/5

wait a minute; I don't think the rba heads can even fit in the nano.

has me wondering about compatibility and interoperability between the nano, mini and full size

In the top picture that Edyle posted, the smaller square atomizer is next to the bigger cylindrical Rebuildable Atomizer which doesn't fit in the Kanger subtank Nano version but the small ones are interchangable. IMO the Mini is a better choice for a beginner, the RBA is better to learn on than jumping into rebuilding the OCC attys. The nano gets a bit hotter with the .5, depending on the battery, it's fine with variable voltage but with an Ego One sub ohm battery at full charge it's way too hot. I'm guessing the Mini would work better with a mech mod because of the larger size. For now I'm using a .98 ohm build at it's a nice middle ground.
