Difference in wick sizes?

Well I'm ordering my first wick for my nemesis clone. Only problem is, I don't know what size to get. Or even what the different sizes are for. On ebay I see 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm silica wicks. I'll also be trying out organic cotton, but I can just get that from Walgreens. I want to give silica a try as well though.

So which size is used for what? Or does it even matter?

your choice in the end. I use 3mm if I run out i got some 2 laying around, if trying to rebuild some of the prebuilt heads it helps to have a size that fits correctly

other then that under heavy vaping with a dripper I think thicker wick stays wet better.

So in the end it really doesn't matter? I would like to have some wick for cloud chasing, and some specifically for rebuilding my kayfun Lite clone.

When I use silica in my drippers I use 3mm usually. I like the extra liquid it holds.

i thinkthe stock video from sveo mesto he uses doubled 2mm. i run doubled 3mm with 30g for around 1.5 ohms

you will just have to find what works for you, seems a million different builds will work in the KF

The Kayfun is a pretty versatile atty. 2mm or 3mm should function well for. You can use pretty much any thickness of wick within reason. I have been using 1.5mm silica. I love the huge amount of vapor I get from a microcoil, but despise using cotton wicks. With the 1.5, I can wrap a normal coil and push all the wraps together, leaving a kind of micro coil!

For my Kayfun, I used 2mm ekowool and it worked well for me. I tried 3mm and it was just too fat for my personal preferences... I've been using cotton for the past month or so though and haven't missed silica yet!

I've been considering cotton, but does it last as long? Seems like it would be more prone to breaking down faster than silica. What are the advantages and disadvantages of cotton?

It really depends on how you want to wrap your coils. I'm wrapping mine on 0.8mm silica or 1mm Ekowoll to allow for more wraps/inch of wire. With so many different ways to pluck this chicken, there really isn't a one size is best.

I use a dual series vertical mounted micro coil on the Russian with an external wrapped wick. When I used cotton the wicks would last 2 weeks before needing to re-wick. I am now using hemp fiber and have a week on it so far. You'll find most any build works great on the Kayfun style rba. I've built this puppy with everything but ceramic, but I keep coming back to the dual vertical as the best performer, smoothest draw with no sputtering, and easiest to wick.

After discovering mico coils I quickly moved away from silica and used cotton primarily. The flavor is better and cotton is so easy to find, plus there is the health concern about silica needles that can impale the lungs once the silica starts to break down. I'm currently using 28 awg Kanthal for my coils, works great for my builds that range from .5-2 ohms on my various rba's.

Once you start building you'll discover what you like best. It's good to try a bit of everything because we all find our personal preferences, but still like to experiment just to see if it will vape better if I try it this way.
