Hi,

I have a question on using different attomizers with the BB. I'm new to vaping and am currently using the 510 atty and cartridges. However, I've seen that the BB will also work with 801, 901 and 808 attys (with an adaptor.

Can someone tell me what changes when using a different atty? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

I like the 510 atty, but I find the cartridges run out too soon, and I have to refil them. How long is a full cartridge supposed to last. Do any of the others offer better results? More vapor? More flavor?

Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Do any of them hold more liquid than the others? I find the 510 carts run out quite quickly.

Is it possible to buy empty cartomizers so I can fill them with AltLiquid (Smooth)?

I do this almost exclusively. I buy empty cartomizers, I have about 250, and fill them with my favorite juices.

After I initially fill them, I take about 15-20 drags, and then add 6-8 drops (way before it is empty) in order to avoid burning the polyfill. Depending on the juice and the cartomizer itself, I generally can do this between 10-30 times before the cartomizer goes "bad".

510 seems to work the best for HV vaping. Before using a HV PV I loved the the 801 pen style with a joy batt. For some reason I don't think the 801 works as well with HV PV's but again, thats just IMO.

After learning to fill my own cartomizer's, I had a whole new respect for the medium but have not tried it with the SB yet.

When going with HV carts are a crap shoot as you'll encounter increased potential for melting carts (lined up properly or not). So HV vaping is really meant for dripping-only, unless using the 808 cartos, which'll last the longest too.
Of the remaining attys, 510 has lowered resistance making it hit stronger, harsher & some claim this causes reduced flavor when compared to 801s & 901s. 510s & 901s take a max of around 3 drops before flooding while the larger 801 can take 6+ drops.
Therefore:
510 - 2.4ohm resistance - stronger hit & bigger clouds & 3 drops max
901 - 3.4ohm " "- weaker TH + more flavor & 3 drops max
801 - 3.4 " "- weaker TH + more flavor & 4-6/8 drops max
HV510 3.4 " "- weaker TH + more flavor & 2 drops max

After flipping back & forth on different attys I always come back to regular 510's, IMO they're the bomb. I get good flavor at HV especially with VG juices & great TH & vapor.
I frequently dig using 801s for flavor & less dripping but they tend to clog up tightening the draw.

Also, I don't really understand what this thread/question means:
"What atty is best with the 510?"
ugh, Nordberg? I think we might have a problem...
Probably should be corrected to read: "What attys is best with the SB?" since it would otherwise be an incorrect redundancy 'cuz the 510 is an atty anyway, LOL!

Good catch... The poll question should read: "Which atty is best with the BB?"

The good news is I have ordered the 801, 901 and some Cartomizers, so I'll give a full report back next week with my conclusions...My biggest issue with the 510 is that sometimes I get great vapor and flavor and other times it's just blah. The carts run out too fast also... I find I constantly have to top them up.

So, I got my new attys and adapters last night, here are my conclusions... Note I am using a BB with the standard 3.7v battery.

801:
I love the look, size and feel of this one. The carts are huge (hold a ton of liquid), the tips are nice soft plastic and feel very nice, and I like this atty from a cosmetic standpoint. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the vaping ability of this atty, since it was DOA. I have contacted the vendor for a replacement, and look forward to trying it :)

KR808 Carts:
I have to say this was WEIRD. I was not impressed at all. I ordered pre-filled carts (555 11mg) from VaporKings. I found I got very little vapor (even after allowing the cart to break in - 20 puffs of more) and little flavor. It was also very easy to "draw" (suck in air) on the carts, and felt like I was sucking on a pen lid where someone had stubbed an analog ciggy :) Overall, I was disappointed to say the very least. I will try one more just to make sure it wasn't a bad cart, but honestly, I don't know what I was doing wrong. I had such high expectations.

UPDATE: I tried taping 3/4ths of the way around the bottom of the cart and taking longer, slower lighter draws... It worked! I still prefer the 510/901 experience so far, but at least now I have a basis for comparison... Thanks for all the help!

901:
I think the 901 is a good compromise. It's not as cool looking as the 801, but it's a lot more portable. It's not as portable as the 510, but it holds a lot lore liquid. I also much prefer the whistle tip on the 901 over the 510 tips (flat or round). Overall, I'd say this is a very consistent atty. Every draw gets decent vapor, fantastic flavor and some throat hit. I would say if I compare the best of vapes between the 901 the 510, then the 510 would be better. However, the 901 produces consistency every time. It also has not leaked on me (yet). The 510 is capable of amazing results, but the constant topping off, adjusting, fiddling, cleaning, etc. is annoying. I have the 901 on my BB today and plan to keep using it until my replacement 801 arrives. I have a feeling that the 801 may be my atty of choice, if it lives up to my expectations :)

On a side note, I also tried something else... I put an 901 cart on a 510 atty. The results were pretty good, but I am not sure if it's advisable or safe. Has anyone else done this?

I welcome your comments and feedback :)

UPDATE: So I think I have found the best combo :)

I'm still waiting on my 801 atty, but until then, I'm absolutely loving the 510 with the 910 cartridges. They last longer, and actually make the device slightly shorter. The vapor production is insane, as is the flavor, and there is no burnt taste. I also love the proper whistle tips and they are easier to draw/inhale on. The 901 carts fit a little snug on the 510, but I think that's a good thing because there is no leaking.

The 510 carts just seem crappy to me - too small, they leak, etc.

Nobody else is using a 401 but me? I got the adapter along with my bsb, switched out between 510 and 401 until my mind was made up. I can get a slightly bigger cloud of vapor with the 510 atty if I control a long, slow draw, but get less flavor than the 401. TH is the same. The 510 is a PITA for dripping, a no-go for dipping, and a filled cart gets wasted as quickly as a dripped atty unless I use a sponge mod. So 401 all the way over here! Might as well stick to what I know and i am definitely a dipper for life, dripper when I get lazy, and that is too lazy to be dripping down the 300 foot mine shaft on top of a 510 atty. 8-o

Oh yeah, and no burnt taste when the 401 starts to go dry, just a lack of flavor. I thought the 510 stanky tongue issue was from the cart filler, but mine taste raunchy even when the drip goes dry and the cart has no filler. Reminds me of melting filters on analogs. Yuck.

Forgive my ignorance but what's a 401 atty and where can I buy one? Is it bascially a low-bridge 801 atty?
