Different design on Pen Style Atomizers?

Just recently ordered new pen style atomizers from Puresmoker and another site, and noticed that they are a different design. The steel-wook-looking stuff sits MUCH higher up in the chamber. Additionally, my stock of blank cartridges are not playing nice -- they barely fit, and when I remove one to top it off, the filler sticks in the atomizer. Worst of all, not a lot of vapor being created.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Tallulah--Sounds like Steve may have switched from selling the RN4072 to an 801 still. The 801 has the higher bridge and a lighter draw. Good atomizers. I am sure Steve will chime in and let us know-----Sun

Hi, Sun,

I've wondered if the original 801 attys, what I've seen referenced as the "old style" had the low bridge? And they changed it recently, maybe last fall or so, to the high bridge to make it better contact the felting. Also, it seems like they changed the 801 first, because there are still folks being surprised at getting the high bridges in 901 replacement parts.

Hi, Tallulah,

the only time I've seen them stick to the mesh is when I've run them dry. Also, I've tossed some very old stuffing because it got hard on both ends and were no longer wicking well. My suggestion is that you try poking the filler down about 1/8" or so into the cartridge, give the atty a couple of drops, and then pull the cartridge as soon as first detect a taste change. That should keep it from sticking to the mesh.

I really dislike the high bridge meshes... I ordered a few from PS, but did not like them at all. As a result, I've been stocking up on atomizers from bestecig in lieu of a possible ban -- their 801's are branded "BE112" and have low bridges. Personal preference, though, there are those who like the high bridge.

I hope the prodigy works well with my BE112's. According to Cash, the Big P should fit all Penstyle atomizers.

Tallulah, the 801 cartridges are shorter, to fit the higher mesh bridge and slightly shorter atomizer. The best thing to do is get some true 801 cartridges for those atomizers, and reserve the other type for your 4072 atomizers. The right fit between cartridge and atomizer really makes a difference, as I learned through an experience like yours.
