When I first started to vape a few months ago I started with a kr808d-1 system from Vapornine which worked really great with all cartos that I tried on them. I then purchased some replacement batts from Vaporkings and thier batts didn't work with half the cartos that I had.

I did some research and found this pic which showed two different types of kr808d-1, old and new styles.

I have attached a pic I found showing the difference in the batts (hope it posts).

I guess what I am saying is be aware of some of the batts that you purchase. Some vendors are trying to get rid of old stock at cheaper prices and they don't identify if they are older or newer styles.

I posed that question to V2 who is making that claim (4.2v) and management won't answer. They did the same advertising scheme in the past and I know all 808's at full charge will measure 4.2v~ , and then fall off rather quickly during use.
I refuse to buy until I get firm answers from any supplier in that regards.

On the photo. Every battery I have is the old style and a few aren't that old. When was the newer style introduced? I've purchased some of the old style as recently as 3 months ago.

It is not so much old vs new as it is actually a different battery model. the KR808D-1 and the 901 have the same threading on the connection, but the models were designed differently. The KR8 has venting in the battery to provide air flow. The 901 has its venting in the cartomizer, so the battery doesn't need to have air channels. You can modify a 901 battery to work with KR8 cartos by cutting a grove in the center terminal as shown in the picture for auto batteries or by cutting a small channel through the outer terminal (threaded part) for a manual battery.

I received a standard size V2 manual, no slot on the connector recently in black.
After vaping on it for a while, I popped the probes on my multi meter, it read 4.18v after about 20 min of use.

Did the same to an older manual battery from them with the slot, and it was at 3.70v

No. I do not think that thing on the left is really KR808D-1. That slot is something some 901's have. I think 901 cartos need that slot to get air. And that is annoying. I bought their supposedly Nebula/KR808D-1 cartos so I sure hope they match Vapor4Life and KR808D-1 Boge cartos for airflow

What "KR808D-1" cartos are you using? I have bought Boge and Vapor4Life and their cartos have slotted poles to let the air in. Both the Kanger (original manufacturer) KR808D-1 batteries and the Vapor4Life ones, even with the manuals, have a hole in the middle of the threaded end, NO SLOT in the threaded end of the battery, and air intake holes around the outside of the battery threads which I suspect are actually the main air intake. So it seems to me Vapor4Life is consistent with the original manufacturer KR808D-1 which has no slot on the batteries. That makes the question - what the heck is your picture on the left because it does not match a Kanger KR808D-1.

The one on the left (old style) I bought from Vaporkings and the one on the right I got from Vapornine. Both were listed on thier websites as kr808d-1. The one on the left does not work with about half of my cartos, the LED comes on and air pulls but nothing comes out. The one on the right works with all of them. Go figure.

I could be wrong, but it appears that the one on the left is an auto and the one one the right is a manual...

Well, the one on the left looks just like my SmokeTip autos and my generic autos, the one on the right looks like my generic manuals. So I'm thinking you're right sierrabravo.

If the LED light is coming on and you're getting air, try this fix for the cartos... sounds like they're not making a connection. LINK
