I'm very new to vaping and ordered an Aerotank and Nautilus to test things out. Apologies if this has been posted before or is in the wrong section.

What ohm for the atomizers should I choose? I have a iTaste VTR.
I'd like to know what difference the different Ohm numbers for the Atomizer heads makes for the clearomizers?
My intuitive and naive understanding would be that at the same Wattage they would all convert the same amount of electric energy into heat energy. With different ohms the voltage and ampere is changed but the overall energy and heat should be the same, right?

Does the ohm affect the surface area and the longevity? Thinner wire or longer wire would have higher resistance. So the higher the ohm, the more surface area where eliquid can be vaporized? Is more surface area good?

Why not always have the "optimal" type of ohm (high or low) and then just adjust the wattage?
Are different ohms meant mainly for mechanical mods with fixed voltage? Aren't most batteries fixed at 3.6/3.7 volts?

    Aerotank / Protank 3
    1,5 Ohm
    1,8 Ohm
    2,0 Ohm

    Protank 2
    1,5 Ohm
    1,8 Ohm
    2.2 Ohm
    2,5 Ohm

    Nautilus
    1,6 Ohm
    1,8 Ohm

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

    Thank you!

So higher ohms tend to generate more vapor?
Because of lower heating area? I guess it also depends on the wicking and airflow...

No, Ohm is a measure of electrical resistance. The higher the resistance, the more voltage you will need to get a similar amount of vapor. This is why people with fixed 3.7v batteries will usually prefer lower ohm ratings. Some people like higher resistance with higher voltage. It's just a personal preference. Play around with different Ohm ratings on your VTR and see what you prefer.

That is true for an unregulated mod, but the OP has a VTR which is regulated. In hir case, wattage is the relevant value to look at. If you click the link in my signature, there's a battery drain calculator where you can simulate a mech or regulated mod, and play around with different values to see how they affect the battery.

Thanks for your calculator. I was playing around with different values even before you posted today. Great learning tool.

adding a kick to a mechanical, will in effect turn it into a regulated device, yeah ?

thanks for the site btw. didn't even know i was looking for something like this, until i saw it ! brilliant

Regarding the mythical 2.2Ω Nautilus heads. I wrote to Aspire as they hadn't added them to their website & I wanted to convince an EU shop I use to stock them. Which would be difficult without Aspire recognising they made them. Here is their reply..........woe is me.

    Dear XXXX,
    Thank you for your email.
We just have sold 2000 pcs Nautilus 2.2ohm atomiser heads to USA, and there is only one customer selling this, if you'd like to take, please feel free to contact: Vapage E-Cigarettes | Electronic Cigarettes | Cig2o E-Cigs

From now on, we will just do 1.6ohm and 1.8ohm, so after the 2000pcs, there will never be 2.2ohm atomizer head, thanks.

Any details please kindly check our website, thank you.
    Have a nice day!

    Best&warm regards,
    XXXX

So, buy quick, buy big Americans, before they run out (you lucky things).
