Diminishing TH

Hi.

I got my 306 in the mail. I was quite excited. From all the reading here, I wanted to get a feel for what a fresh atomizer tasted like. I wanted to make sure I knew what flavors were juice and what were atty break-in period, so I put in some plain VG and puffed away. The atty flavor was like a mild metallic flavor. The VG was sweet, dense, and surprisingly cool on my nostrils upon exhale. I've actually gone back to smoke some pure VG just for the pleasure of it.

I also got some 11mg Camel from RMV. I dripped some of that in there after having blown out the atty and let it sit upright on a paper towel over night.

Here's the thing:
First drag - bang. Throat hit so strong that I gave a small cough.
Second drag - Ah, that's the TH I was looking for. Just like my Camel lights.
Third drag - hey, where's my TH going?
Fourth through finish - No TH to be found. Good flavor, decent vapor. No TH.

Since then, I've tried several time, with the same results. It's almost as if the atty is cooking off all the nicotine in the first few drags.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'd love to get a nice even TH experience for at least 15-20 drags. Is it the juice? The atty? Dripping?

Not familiar with the 306, but can tell you that I probably wouldn't even notice the TH on 11mg liquid. But then I vape at 24mg. Someone will probably be along shortly though that has more experience. Good luck!

I can understand that. I used to be a Reds smoker. Camel lights were my drug of choice for about 5-7 years before I quit. They were rather easy on the throat/lung hit, but had just enough to make themselves known. As far as nicotine content, I think they were roughly .65mg per cigarette. That's 13mg per pack, and before I quit, I was smoking less than a pack a day.

I'll tell you, though, take away all the other stuff, and I can put away 13mg of nicotine without any trouble at all.

Is there a way to get that same TH punch without nicotine? My lungs have been asking me if I'm just wasting their time, and I've prematurely promised them the goods. I need a way to shut 'em up.

Welcome, I myself was a 1 1/2 pack a day Marlboro Lights person before vaping...For me, I went with the Ego pv because of the better battery, longer life, better vaping...
I use between 12-16 mg most of the time and it works for me...Also, 60% PG and 40% VG....The bottom line for me was checking out the various strengths and flavors over these past 3 months....and I am starting to find a few types of juices that really works for me.....But, I think of it as a fun experience, checking out the different juices and nic strengths....Either way, welcome and Enjoy the Adventure....

As having only vaped now for 2.5 days, I understand some people say they've experienced a break-in period that takes longer than that.

I think it's going to be all about formula. Just a bit ago, I tried dripping about 5 drops of 11mg Camel and 1.5 drops of plain VG (they're bigger drops than the PG, because it's a little thicker). The first drag, again, had a strong TH. But this time, I had decent TH for about 15 more drags. It diminished again, but this time, I think it was the battery on its way out.

More experimentation is warranted. Delicious!

I vape at between 12mg and 15mg and I add a very small amount of pure grain alcohol (something like Everclear NOT rubbing alcohol) to increase the throat hit. From my experience you need to be careful, a little goes a long way. A lot of discussion about this can be found in this thread.

Though not a consensus, it seems that several people have gotten nothing from this. It's worth a try, though. If it doesn't work, I bet I can find another use for the Everclear.

Brings up another good point. When smoking while drinking, it's the TH that I look for more than anything else.

I vaped all day on 11mg, yesterday, and got a little strung out by night time.

I've got a few Flavour Art flavs coming in today, so we'll see how much the flavor/juice has an impact on consistency.

i'm not familiar with that atty, but i was going to say drip more drops, especially when new, the atties are thirsty boogers.

and watch your battery. when they are waning in charge they are worthless. if yours has a light that flashes when low, you don't have to wait that long to know the battery is shot and needs a charge. just swap out for a newly charged battery and you'll be good to go.

I thought it might be worth bumping this up with my discovery:

I found that when direct dripping on the Joye 306 atty, the best TH and flavor come with the first few drags and then drops off greatly; especially if after taking several consecutive drags (within, say, 10-15 seconds) After trying things like more initial drops and fresh battery, I found little change.

Then I had a thought: The first few drops keep liquid right at the bridge (and perhaps closest to the heating coil?). So I tested this by always holding my e-cig vertically such that the mouthpiece was pointing downward. Suddenly, I found more flavor and more throat hit!

Then I tried Highping's cart mod, figuring that it would consistently add more fluid right to the bridge.

It worked! While it's not quite as strong as direct dripping, it's quite close. With this method, I can lower my nic level (already somewhat low, and I seem to prefer 12mg, though I have a couple 8s and even some 4s) and still get a TH that announces its presence and a flavor that reminds me which liquid I'm vaping.
