Just started today but have read alot of info. I was under the impression that "dripping" was putting liquid into an empty cartridge. Then I saw someone speak of dripping directly onto the atty so now I'm confused again. I assume the advantage is that you get a stronger hit and more flavor and vapor, but are there any downsides? Can it damage the atty? I'm using a Riva 510 manual so I believe the battery is sealed, so I shouldn't need to worry about liquid getting in there.

Aside from that, how exactly do you vape when dripping on the atty? Do you drag right off the atty or do you stick an empty cart back on or is there a special setup or technique for doing this?

U will need a drip tip thats fits ur atty. then u drip through the drip tip and vape. like bjannr have said, just dun let the atty get dry. avg vape per drip is 5-6 puff but its just a guideline.

p.s. w/o the drip tip, u will burn ur lips by just vaping directly from the atty ^^;; and also the hot vapor might burn ur throat.

If you don't have a drip tip, you can use an empty cart for now as a mouthpiece, but you will have to take it off, drip in, then put it back on and hit it. That's why alot of people like drip tips bc they have a bigger hole and you can drip right thru it and then just hit it. Try the empty cart one to see of you like it. Personally I don't really like dripping. I like cartomizers much better, their easier, last longer, and you really can only drip at home. That being said tho, I do drip to test juices. Never fill a carto without trying a juice first bc if you don't like it then you waste the carto. Dripping is the easiest way to test juices.

Drip tips can also be used as a mouthpiece for cartomizers. You can take the cap off the carto and put the drip tip on. Then you have a nice mouthpiece. I do that and it worlds well. And if you have a few drip tips in different colors in helps distinguish what juice is in each carto

Oh ya that works too but if u have a few spare cartridges, remove the polyfill in one then use it as a mouth piece. u can always slot it back later. the reason to remove is that i find mine dulls the taste of the vapor a little but ymmv~

good luck and enjoy vaping~

I drip with a 510 atty on my eGo-T battery with a Cherry Vape ming drip tip. Once you get yourself a good drip tip you'll be set. I tried the empty plastic cartridge that came on my 510 atty to drip with and it stinks! Remember to put only a few drops at a time on your atty (I do 3) then wait till the taste changes and I put another 2 to 3 drops on the atty or through the drip tip if it has a big enough hole (as the ming does). Good luck and have fun. I love dripping especially when I want to try several different flavors out and don't wanna take the time to clean my eGo-T atty out!

Dripping usually uses a drip tip. The drip tip takes the place of the cartridge and the hole through the middle of it is wide and you can drip right down the hole.

All 510 manuals I have seen are totally sealed on the threaded end so they are good for dripping. I mostly use cartomizers on 510 (you can use anything 2.5 to 3 ohm - I use Boge 3 ohm). But I only put thin juices in cartomizer (ones with 20% or less VG) so t home I drip a couple of thicker liquids and flavors I only vape occasionally and I drip to test new juices. I blow the atomizer out into a tissue between juices and then drip in a few drops of the new liquid and wait for it to soak down to the coil before vaping.

Cool thanks for the info.

I tried it out with a blank and just dripped and put the blank back on. It's definitely a much stronger and flavorful hit, but it's over after 2-3 drags, so I can see where the open tip would make things much easier.

That being said, if I'm filling a cart, its there any harm putting a few drops into the atty before I reinstall the filled cart?

Depending on your liquids thickness you can drip 3-4 drops into your 510 atomizer. Depending on how long of draws/hits you take 4-8 hits you will need to redrip. Long hits-4-5, short hits you can go longer between dripping. The taste and vapor production will let you know when you need to re-drip. At the slightest hint of a harsh hit-re-drip. Keeping the atomizer moist with juice is the key. Make sure to have back up atomizers as you learn to drip.
You can use the cartridge without any filler and it become just a mouthpiece. Most of us use Drip Tips which can be purchased almost anywhere you buy your supplies. You really should search around for good prices and think about which material you may like best. Some drip through the drip tip-some take it off, drip and replace. Most drip tips out there will hold some juice in the tip when dripping through them-just be sure to give 2 quick blows (mouth not touching tip) to force the juice on down.
Pic of some of the tips out there:

No harm. In fact thats what i did previously when i was on carts. Did cuz science tells me that osmosis works better that way so that the liquid gets pulled into the wick easier. ymmv of cuz. And dun over drip or u will have a flooded atty.... again. lol~

Looks like someone (HzG8rGrl) has a worse addiction than vaping? :)

When I started vaping, drip tips didn't exist, so blank carts was the only option. Always 3-4 drops for me. I got to the point where I could DD while I was driving!

I'm now on an Ego-C Tank setup when I'm mobile, but using LR510 Atty's and pyrex drip tips at home.

+1 to burnt lips and epic TH... I hear good things about 306 attys, anyone know what the diff is between those and the regular 510's?

Take my word for it, you need a drip tip with a 306
A 306 drip tip fits on the outside of the atty shell instead of the inside like a 510.

Oh, and a 306 fits on a 510 connection. Same threading
