Ok so I posted something thursday and got no replies....yet http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ges/330642-first-time-dripping-today-wow.html . This is kind of an update/question.
So as of thursday i'm vaping a ego c twist with smoketech carts and a tank. I have a 555 type juice here, love it dripping but when I put it in a tank it has a dirty socks with a slight apple taste to it. Now, as much as I love dripping there are times when I cant do it, like tonight I have to head over to my friends about 45 mins away. Cant drip while driving, let alone at night and in the rain. So I need to use a tank, but i'm trying to figure out what it is about the tank setup that is giving me this odd flavor. The vapor is there but its just a subdued flavor.
I started out with carts then moved to cart/tank setup but really could never taste much with a tank setup. I usually had to put the drip tip almost up to my tongue to taste anything.
I've been watching reviews on the vivi nova setup and wondering if this would help my lack of flavor with the tanks I am currently using.

Does the Nic perform differently in a cartomizer than in a atty?
Cuase I love the flavor in the atty but its when I load a cart with it is when I get the dirty socks smell/flavor.

Dirty Socks is often from the Nic Base used. Might have to try another supplier. There's also Perfumey and Soapy nic bases.

oh btw lol I had a perfumey e liquid from a pacific ocean supplier..... made me sick for a day and a half.

I wish that was the case because it would be an easy fix, but I soak my tanks overnight in hot water every night after use. I wonder if I have some strange taste buds, almost like the poly fill in the cart is changing the taste for me. I do get cottonmouth when using a cart as well. Could that be possible that i can somehow taste the poly fill in the cart?
I ordered some xxl smoketech carts the other day for my gf and I want to try to see if its the same taste.

It sounds like your tank is giving off a burnt flavor. Time to clean it or look for a new one. The vivi nova seems to have fairly true flavors.

If you're using any clearomizer of any sort, or atty and tank build, (without polyfill) it's always a good idea to blow them out first to remove any atty lubricants and then dry burn - Press power buttona couple seconds on. Stop. Repeat a couple of times till you see coil glow red and only then fill them. (Sometimes the atty part of the tank can have some sort of oil/protectant on them).

That's what I thought, the only time i'v had that funky taste was on a fresh atty.
The problem is that im getting odd flavors with 3 different brands of carts and 4 different juice vendors. I was thinking to maybe give a fresh (unopened) cart and (unopened) tank a soak in vodka for like 20 mins, dry off and dry burn. Fill and try to see if I get the same taste?
I'm really wondering if its my taste buds, last night I had my gf try "sweet cigarillo" which I absolutely love, and she said it tasted like froot loops..... Then again, I cant taste cherry or vanilla at all.

edit...
forgot to mention, im using dual coil 1.5 ohm attys only.

lol yes that did sound..... anyway lol. Yea I did blow out both ends till my ears hurt lol. I got a fresh unopened (well its opened now) cart and tank with end caps and drip tip soaking in some vodka. Hopefully I can taste some difference before I have to fill up and head out for the evening.

Hmmm. Are you wrapping both ends in tissue and giving them a good old blow out first. dear god ...this sounds sooooo :pervy: lol

Ok soo................ I got my orders today, got a pack of 3.2 boge carts, a pack of smoketek 2.5 XXL and 1.5 XXL.
So far I used the boges and smoketek 2.5, NO..... I repeat NO problems so far. Yes I have been using different juice, because I ran out of everything! I have not tried the 1.5 yet, but..... what I'm thinking is that I was a heavy smoker 2 to 2 1/2 PAD so I vape long and hard. I'm thinking because of how much I smoked and how I vape, wondering if I'm burning the 1.5's right off the bat, maybe even burning the wicking material?

lol I found that chart the other day and said........ oh whoops

I'm still a newbie but just started understanding ohms in relation to cartos. Started off with the analog looking e cigs then went to a ego style, I thought they would regulate it for me but I guess not. Wonder if that's why my gf never had problems with her setup, she doesn't inhale long or puff frequently.
Anyway I'm using a ego twist and kgo vv. Been using the kgo all day at 6 volts with 3.2 boge (love the heavy hit with licorish flavor) , haven't had any problems so far with the new carts I think the lowest one I have been using today was 2.5 smoketech xxl
