It depends on the battery chemistry.

Older ICR chemistry batteries can be discharged down to 3.2 volts without damaging the battery chemistry.

Most IMR and hybrid chemistry battery have a safe low discharge limit down to 2.5 volts.

If you have any doubts the best thing to do is check the manufacturer spec sheet for the batteries you are using.

Yes IMR batteries, but I understand that its better not to discharge below 3.6v. Shortens the life of the battery. But if you chain vape like me you don't getting many hours this way.

Your batteries might last a little longer if you don't take them down to 3.1V all the time, but it's not going to be a lot of difference. The 3.6V minimum is a lot more important with no regulation in your mod. The problem is once you go lower than 3.6V the voltage drops faster and faster and it's hard to stop it at 3.1V without going past that.

If you really don't want to let them get to 3.1V, you'll have to keep track of how long you're vaping and them check them with a DMM when you think you're getting there.
