I don't get it, Who in H E double tooth picks want's their EJuice to taste and smell like GRANDMA's Sunday go to meeting PERFUME? I mean COME-ON! When TastyVapor.us (after 4 years of buying from them) stopped selling their 48MG and the four ounce doubler, to make some inexpensive GREAT TASTING juice, I started looking for other places to get some bulk - TASTY EJuice. (I share it with a friend on disability). I ran across the same situation that I have had before: There are a lot of e-juice companies where almost all of their flavors have that same sickening perfumey taste and smell.

I finally found at Mt Baker E-juice a few juices that I have started buying, and HAVE NOT had this problem with any of them. I also ordered from Wizard Labs some DIY stuff and flavorings and have made 5 to 6 different flavors. The first one was The Flavor Apprentice (TFA) RY4 Double, and it is really good. Then I tried a few other flavors from them (TFA). . . and then there was that perfume taste again--- GROSS! The couple Lorann's I tried tasted fine.

I guess what I am looking for here are a few DIY Flavor companies that none of their flavors have that PUTRID RANCIDNESS. Also, I have been noticing this FLOWERY FELONY in certain places for a few years now, and am wondering why I haven't seen any one else complaining about this GREENERY DUMP flavor fiasco here in the forum.

Sometimes it means it needs some steeping time. Sometimes it means that you mixed at too high a percentage. Sometimes it means that the flavor just SUCKS! -Before I started to DIY, some of my Halo flavors tasted great upon delivery after a night with the cap off while others took months to lose the floral nastiness.
TFA RY4D is known for tasting good right away. It tastes nothing like a cig to me but I really enjoy it nonetheless. What flavors are you having issues with and what are you looking for in an e-liquid flavor?

You should also know that some people don't taste it at all. There is a certain vendor e-liquid that my son looooves that I think is terribly perfumey and sharp. It goes the other way too with my DIY. I like it and he'll say it tastes like shampoo.

No use complaining about it really, what I don't like someone else does. I just moved on to other flavorings, mostly Inawera since I had problems with many (but not all) TFA and FA flavorings.

I was actually just wondering about this... The chick at the store I frequent actually pointed out that the cheap juice I bought from the other store "smells like those purple flowers the city puts in all over the place", and to me it tastes like body spray mixed with fake sweetener... But my girlfriend and a coworker have both told me it tastes great to them. I've actually never encountered this before this particular bottle of juice.

Do you think maybe it's got something to do with how long you've been vaping? I started towards the end of summer last year, and both coworker and gf were introduced to e-cigs by me in the past six months... And neither vapes as often as I do. (In other words, pretty much only when I pass them my pv.)

There are some TFA flavors that I really like... but there are a lot of them that taste perfumy to me (especially the tobaccos).

What kind of flavors are you interested in?

For me the best tobaccos have been Hangsen and Inawera. No perfume flavors there for me ever.

For desserts I use a lot of different brands, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Capella's. You can get all of those brands at ecigexpress.

One problem is people who smoke or have dead taste buds are often mixing juice. They taste things WAY differently than the rest of the world and they don't even know it. When I first started vaping I could barely taste light fruit flavors such as melons. I actually mixed store bought juices to try and make certain juices taste good before starting DIY. Friends would tell me a juice was wonderful and I was scratching my head asking myself ... mate. So yeah that and the fact that most stores do not steep whatsoever before they bottle.

I also notice certain flavors are much more perfumey than others. I quit buying the Alcohol version of flavoring where a PG substitute is available. The Alcohol is stronger but it also changes the flavor of the juice. And I used to use PGA to boost the flavor even more but this only compounded the problem requiring a longer steep. Now I just bump my PG slightly to compensate for the lack of Alcohol. And there in itself is another problem as PG/VG ratios being used are all over the place.

Over flavouring will do that, what % are you using them at?

Thank you all for taking the time to respond and help me out. Since I started looking for new suppliers this month, it just tripped me out when I ordered 10 e-juice flavors from Mt Baker and another 10 from Azure Vaping, That all Mt Baker juice tasted like they should, and that all 10 from Azure had that heavy perfume taste and smell. I ordered the same type of flavors from both.

I have been looking forward to making my own e-juice for a while. Though I have been using e-juice that I loved, I always wanted to change them a little bit (not as strong, a little bit more maple syrup with my Waffles and stuff like that). Bakery flavors are my favorites, not much into fruity vapes unless it's Peach Cobbler, Banana Nut Bread etc.

I ordered 7 flavorings from LorAnn: Cappuccino, Cinnamon Roll, Bavarian Cream, Chocolate Hazelnut, Coffee, Maple and Butterscotch. None of them had that smell, and since TastyVapor Never had the perfume taste and they use and sell LA flavors, I'm guessing I won't have that problem with any of their flavorings.

I ordered a lot more TFA flavors because they seemed to have more complex flavors than LA. I just went through them and smelled them all, and salvaged 8 flavors that didn't smell and threw out 10 that did. I kept Waffle, Hazelnut, Cinnamon, Vanilla Cupcake, Nat. Maple, Maple Syrup, Banana Nut Bread and that RY4 Double.

That RY4 Double I mixed at 15% and it tasted really good, the LA Chocolate Hazelnut at the same - but it was a little bit to strong. I guess I have enough to play around with for a little while.

If you have any tips for me, or have your favorite flavor source with complex flavors and none of the perfumes, Let me know. I REALLY appreciate it.

I'll stop complaining about the perfume thing, and just deal with it. After all, the trash can is always in reach. It is funny though, every time I go into my bathroom - - - It smells like perfume.

Which says the real problem that is you probably use way too much flavor. And some Lorann flavors are great while some others are really bad. But as most of us know taste can vary from person to person and also from device to device. But nothing is going to compensate for you using way to much flavoring.

What do you suggest? I do know some flavors are stronger than others, but at what percentages do you usually do for total flavor percentages?

Some flavors such as Black Honey Tobacco (TFA) at 7% need around 4-5 weeks of time to lose the chemical perfume odor and truly evolve into a nice smooth flavor true to the name.

Back shelf those not so great flavors and come back to them in a month, if they are good, fine. If they still suck take the cap off for a few days and try again, if they are good, fine. If they still suck by this time I'm fairly sure they go to file 13.

It varies by flavor and what you mix them with. Sometimes a flavor just wont work with another flavor no matter how little or how much you add. And something that tastes great to me might not taste that good to you. But here are two similar TFA recipes where the primary flavors are mixed at different ratios.

Blue Lemon Drop
8.0% Blueberry (candy)
6.0% Lemon-Lime
4.0% Lemon
2.0% Sweetener

Pink Lemonade
8.0% Raspberry (sweet)
8.0% Lemon-Lime
2.0% Lemon
2.0% Sweetener

LA and TFA flavorings are all over the place and hard to work with. The biggest advice I can give are

1. TFA flavors will get perfumy when you add to much and also when you don't steep them. they also need to air out for 24 hours with the cap off.

2. LA flavor percentages are all over the place. Some only need 5 - 7 percent and others need 20 - 25%.

Hangsen and inawera are usually easier to work with and taste as well as percentages are very consistant.
