Have tried all the brands and types of cotton available in this neck of the woods, but they all tasted horrible. DerickT the other day suggested sterile dental cotton. So, off to the dentist. Not sterile he says, but I tried it anyhow. Very neutral, best of all I have tried. Maybe some of you will find it a convenient format, so here are some pictures:

37mm long. Dentist had 2 diameters: 10mm and 7mm. The latter fits nicely inside of my Reo.

You can just cut of a piece from this and make a wick

Or you can further dissect by separating the two layers. One layer is more "papery" cotton and the other layer more "cottony" cotton. Choose your preference for wicking, both work.

Thanks for the reseach , I have been useing Q-Tip brand swabs without any flavor issues, I can get about 10 wicks off a single Tip

You must be using that kind that has a big bulb on the end to keep if from going all the way in to the eardrum. Ha. I can get about 10 wicks off one of those too. I can get about 3 wicks from a regular sized Q-tip. Sure makes cotton wicks cheap. In Matthee's case, free (if you have a nice dentist.)
