title says it all. looking to do a DIY BF mod and was wondering if there are other option for the 510 other than the FDV one. thanks in advance for any help

There is gdeal's (the late lamented) modification technique on the fd mech replacement 510. It uses a vented screw (available in 10's from Amazon for arount $15). Very leak proof. Adjustable. Not spring loaded. Sticks out a ways. The vented screw is the problem.
He used them in the pico and the gdna. I can't find the links anymore. Probably because he was banned (unregistered supplier).

FD also sells the vented screw in 2.5mm and 3mm already drill in a 3/pk... They are to use in conjunction with the classic 510 inserts he sells which are the exact same ones George sold in the co-op for the Peko and GDNA's...
Where to get those 6-32 vented screws?+1000 on the FatDaddyVapes "Classic 510 Inserts" as these are perfect, IMO. Drill out the existing delrin insulator with a #35 bit. Thread with a 6-32 tap. Insert modified 6-32 vented screw. Done.

They also have phillips head, which is what I and others have used but I don't have a link handy. I also am not sure that 3/4" is the right length. These are cheap, though.

Keep in mind the vented screws at McMaster-Carr and Amazon need the heads ground or filed down to work in the 510's... The McMaster ones are too high and the Amazon ones have too large of diameter head to fit inside...

You need to decrease the diameter and shorten the head. The techniques and measurements are available somewhere on the forum. Unless they deleted all his posts when he was banned. I chucked the threaded part in a dremel 1/8" chuck and spun it against an emery board. I have the documents at home but I won't be there for a few days.

I always turn down the bolt head to .200" diameter & .075" thick. Works for me every time.
